The History of this game show is legendary as the new big money word game from Bob Stewart called THE $10,000 PYRAMID debuted on March 26-30, 1973 on CBS-TV. American Bandstand star Dick Clark hosted the show for a half-hour of word association, word communication and cash giveaway activities. The 6 categories (subjects) are shaped in a PYRAMID form. Each of them has 8 words (things) will be described in 30 seconds (Half-minute). The Team consisted of 1 star and 1 contestant (The Champions & The Challengers). The 1st Team scores 24 points (earlier is 27 points) or less wins. Ties will be used play 2 letters from the Alphabet (A-Z) to add 8 points (originally 9) to 24 (27 pts.) to make 24 (27) or greater points wins and goes to "The Winner's Circle" where a team could win $10,000 for the contestant. In 1 minute (60 seconds), The winning team will go through naming the subjects to win that $10,000 Cash. After 60 seconds, he or she loses the $10,000 and wins the 6 cash blocks ($50 to $200) earned and returned the regular game. This game has 2 parts. The Champion will continued playing until winning $10,000 cash or being defeated by a challenger becomes the new champion. In addition of winning the game, The Champion will make a $10,000 Decision either Getting (Receiving) the clues or Giving the clues (list) The contestant rarely ever gave the clues on the Winner's Circle, although one who did, helped set history with Bill Cullen. It was Cullen in the Receiver's chair, figuring out the subjects, who set a long-standing record for getting to the top of the Pyramid in the least amount of time. The Bonus of 27 (24 pts.) will win $500 for scoring 27 pts. (then 24 pts.) and on March 29, 1974, The $10,000 Pyramid cancelled on CBS-TV. On May 6, 1974, The Game has changes…The $10,000 PYRAMID returned to Daytime TV and this time on abc-TV, 8 things (points) lowered to 7 things (points), 24 points low into 21 points and on December 23-27, 1974, The BIG 7 is introduced and that where a contestant could win $500 for naming 7 things. (In the Early Weeks of "THE BIG 7" has a Vacation Spot for getting 7 out of 7 & for the Last 2 years of "THE BIG 7" has a option with $25 per word (thing) that've been missed.) Since 21 points are the goal and wins $500 plus(+) $500 for "THE BIG 7" that equals(=) $1000. On January 16, 1976, THE $10,000 PYRAMID ended and only to double the stakes and the title of the game show for next Monday-Friday (January 19-23, 1976) as THE $20,000 PYRAMID.less «

  I grew up with this show as a kid as I do all the other shows. As nobody can host it better than Mr Ageless himself Dick Clark. As this show he has no control over unlike the other shows he does. Here, you try to link six to a pyramid with less than twenty seconds. If you win the round, then you get to play up to $20,000 to the pyramid. As it is hard as I think I wouldn't do good with the show. As these others make it look very easy. Glad that Game Show Network does these shows on New Year's Eve, which ironically, they air when Dick Clark Rock N New Year's shows come on. Hope it stays away for a long, long, time.

  Bob Stewart's New Word-Association Big Money Game Show Series since the Quiz Shows Scandals of the 1950s. hide « show »

  Bob Stewart has been created "THE PRICE IS RIGHT", "TO TELL THE TRUTH" & "PASSWORD" for Mark Goodson-Bill Todman that've been financed all 3 of them since 1956 and now this (that) year(in 1973) created the non-Goodson-Todman Game Show with the structure of the Pyramid with the "$10,000" Sign on top. For anyone to go to the top of the Pyramid will win big money. Enter Dick Clark whom once host of abc-TV's "AMERICAN BANDSTAND" and now he hosted his 2nd Game Show of his career since "Missing Links," Dick's Previous Game Show also created by Goodson-Todman in 1963. On "THE $10,000 PYRAMID," There's 6 categories are into a form of the Pyramid in contrast of the show's title. Whereas A Star & A Contestant will go naming the words & phrases in 30 seconds to score points and the team scores the highest wins and a make valuable decision either Getting the Clues or Receiving the Clues to the 6 subjects in 60 seconds the contestant will $10,000 and leave the game undefeated or otherwise the contestant will collect some little cash off the Pyramid and became the champion. June Lockhart (Late of "LASSIE," "LOST IN SPACE" & "PETTICOAT JUNCTION") & Rob Reiner ("ALL IN THE FAMILY") are this weekday's Guest Stars. The 1st Contestant wins $10,000 for saying the last clue is "Doughnuts" and the subject is "THINGS WITH A HOLE." Although the Big Money Game Show has debuted since the last Game Show was Canceled called "THE BIG PAYOFF" and there's nothing to do with this show.
