I think I´m talking for everybody when I´m saying that this is one of the best chapters in the CSI storie, this one and "7x24 Living doll" were great, I really miss this kinf of episodes. I´m started Watching season eleven and all I can say is "PLEASE SAVE CSI".

I loved this episode not only by the plot but also by the good acting here, I hace to say that I´m not a fan of George Eads, actually I don´t like him but I have to admit that he was exellent in this one, his acting was really convincent.

P.D: I´m from venezuela, I´m not an expert writing in english, please forgive my mistakes

And the award for slowest-moving CSI episode goes to... hide show

When you make a 2-part episode, it's supposed to be because you have so much material to cover that it cannot be covered in one episode. Aparently, this episode didn't get that memo. You spend half the episode fast forwarding through Nick's bad singing to a dumb "Christmas in Las Vegas" song, and the other half yelling at the CSI people to stop sitting there staring off into space while Nick is dying. Pretty early in the episode, they had a search radius and knew about the psycho-dude's daughter. They also knew that he was using elements from her case as imagery in the kidnapping. Somehow, no one thought about checking into the daughter's interests until Nick is being eatten alive by fire ants (at the end). While they were standing around playing "kick the bucket" or huddled around a webcam gawking, they could have been searching through her history (and the psycho-dude's history), or combing the search area, or gee, pretty much anything other than wasting screen-time. Nick, while in a terrible situation, began to flip out. Put yourself in his shoes. You are sealed in a box, burried alive, with limited air. Do you A) Flip out like a nut or B) Concerve your air and hope for rescue? I like option B, and Nick, as a character, tends to be more level-headed. It came across as contrived. In short, this was a frustrating episode to watch because it moved about as quickly as molasses in January, the CSIs kept standing around doing little or nothing while Nick was dying, and the plot line seemed very contrived in multiple places (like using the backhoe at the end, but spending forever digging him out by hand just minutes before). I don't know who wrote/directed this, but I can't help hoping that they aren't going to be doing a lot of Season 6 episodes. This was just... *shakes head* ...words fail me. I have to say that this ranks as the worst CSI episode I have yet to watch.

excellent episode, very suspensful hide show

Loved it if I could I would rate it 100/10!
It had me gripping my seat wondering if they would get to him in time. I no it's an old episode but I only just saw it and I want to watch it again and again. I didn't think they would find anything at all but when Sara found the thumb it had me transfixed. I wanted to punch that Kelly Gordon in the Face when she said "I hope your friend dies" I was furious. I'm a big fan of CSI and this has to be one of my favorite episodes.

    Wow! hide show

There is a fight within me on which episode to choose as one of my top episodes and as much as this may not be the top one coz the show is not over yet and I keep reviewing other episodes, this particular one to me was special to me and to date still ticks me up whenever I watch it. It evoked emotions in me that frequently are not seen and as a dude, that is a rare occurence. Once again, nobody does it better than this show and the inclusion of Tarantino was just a touch of genius. Lovely!

Oh my god, this episode is AWESOME. God, I love this episode, this is the best episode in this series, ever!! Thanks to Quentin Tarantino for this excellent episode. I love this episode, especially after Nick's coffin breaking, the episode is getting better. The classification for this episode is way too many, so I think I just choose "Series Classic" because this episode has "Another great installment", "Exactly why I watch this series", "Nerve-wracking", "Tearjerker", "Exciting" and others. Where can I find this excellent episode in others series? This is just a perfect example why I like to watch CSI. I LOVE THIS EPISODE!!!!!!

More Notes
  • Nick: Mom ... (voice cracks) ... Cisco ... well, this is a lousy way to say good-bye, but it's all I've got. I love you. You raised me right ... and I'm going to miss you. (swallows) As for the rest of you guys, I know you did the best you could to find me. (Grissom watches, his mouth moving as he reads what Nick's saying on the monitor) Grissom ... (with no audio available on the live-feed, Nick continues speaking into the tape recorder as Grissom watches, reading and understanding)
Grissom (quietly): No, you never did, Nick. []
  • Sara (about Kelly's father, Walter): Did you know what he was planning to do?
Kelly Gordon: I don't know. What did he do?
Brass: He kidnapped a friend of mine. A CSI. And then he blew himself up. Tried to take some cops with him.
Kelly Gordon: How many did he get?
Brass: Hey, we're all still here.
    Sara: Nick is still missing.
    Kelly Gordon: Who's Nick?
Sara: The CSI is still missing. Do you know where he is?
Kelly Gordon: That's pretty funny -- you guys not being able to find something. []
  • Catherine (answers her phone): Willows.
    Hodges: Hey, boss.
Catherine: We found him we're getting him out now.
Hodges: That's great. Wait, wait, wait... don't hang up. Just listen.
    Catherine: What? What?
Hodges: Those dimples on the bottom of the prototype GCMS found traces of SEMTEX on each one.
Catherine (almost crying): You got to be kidding me. (she hangs up and sees that they've cleared the coffin and are getting ready to open it)
    Warrick: One, two, three.
Catherine: Everyone out of the hole! The box is ready to explode!
    Warrick: Are you kidding?
Catherine: Get out of there now! (everyone but Warrick clears the hole, Warrick doesn't move)
Warrick: I'm not leaving without Nick.
Catherine: There are charges under the box! (Grissom stands out on the side, thinking. Suddenly, he turns and sees the backhoe nearby. We can see him thinking, his mind working out a solution)
Warrick (stubbornly): I'm not leaving here without him.
Grissom (getting an idea): Warrick, Catherine's right get out of the hole now. I know what we're gonna do. Just trust me. (Warrick reluctantly gets out of the hole. Nick sees everyone leave the hole)
Nick (from inside the coffin, he pounds weakly on the top): Help!
Grissom (outside, shouting instructions): We need 200 pounds of dirt over here right now, and we're gonna use that backhoe to get it. (the group of officers run to get it, Grissom jumps into the hole. Nick is screaming and hitting the coffin cover. Grissom lands on the cover and brushes the dirt away from the glass) Nick! (Nick can see Grissom) Can you hear me? (inside the box, Nick quivers and shakes) It's gonna take us a minute to get you out of there, okay? Nick! (Nick's not listening, as he continues to hit the cover of the box with his hands) Poncho! (Nick reacts to the name and stops struggling, Grissom puts his right hand on the cover of the box) Put your hand on my hand. (Nick puts his left hand directly under Grissom's) Good. Now listen. There may be explosives under the box. They're probably set on pressure switches. We need to equalize your body weight before we can pull you out, okay? (Nick is breathing heavily in the box) Poncho, nod your head if you understand me. (brief moment and Nick slowly nods, Grissom gives some orders) All right, Poncho, we're gonna open the lid to get you out but I need you to stay lying down. Okay? Or else you'll blow us all up. (Nick nods) You understand that?
    Nick (barely audible): Yeah, yeah.
Grissom: Do you promise? (Nick nods) Poncho, say, "I promise."
Nick (crying): I promise. (they go to open the coffin)
Grissom: Don't move. (Grissom and Warrick open it. Nick lets out a loud sob as he cries. He reaches out his hand blindly, grasping Grissom's arm as he reaches into the coffin to place his hand over Nick's chest. Warrick reaches into the coffin and grabs Nick's hand)
Warrick (softly): I got you. I got you. []
