When Michael Deluise came to the show the producers hadn't thought of a name for his character so Michael got to chose his own character's name.

Joey: When I was a kid, I thought, the only thing family was for was to share pain. That was the only thing I knew when I was growing up. 5 years on the street changed my mind about that. Five minutes with my brother changed it back.

TRIVIA: Real-life brothers, Michael and Peter DeLuise, not only starred together on 21 Jump Street but they went on to work together on the NBC series seaquest, DSV that ran from 1993 to 1996.
