4:02 AM - 4:06 AM
Gael calls Phillips and warns him that a toxic substance has been released into the air conditioning system. Phillips tells Gael how to turn off the unit. Phillips begins to worry about the severity of the substance, but Gael tells him not to worry.

Michelle interrogates Alvers who is still cuffed to a pipe in the basement. She asks him how many other vials of the virus are out there. Alvers tells her that there are 11 other vials in circulation, though he doesn't know where they are to be planted. Tony calls Michelle and she tells him that Gael was exposed. Tony reminds her that the virus will kill anyone who catches it within 14 hours. Michelle tells Tony of the 11 other vials and Tony begins to catch on that Michelle is inside the hotel without protection. He orders her to leave, but she refuses since she knows that the guests will begin to panic once they realize what has happened.

Meanwhile, at the club, Jack continues to question Amador as to the whereabouts of the virus and the identity of Amador's employer. Jack threatens to expose Amador to the virus if he doesn't talk, but Amador is too scared to cooperate. Chappelle calls Jack and tells him about the release of the virus in the Chandler Plaza Hotel. Chappelle orders Jack to bring Amador to CTU for interrogation, but Jack reminds him that they failed in that course with Nina. Jack hangs up and orders Amador to his knees, then handcuffs him to a radiator pipe and leaves to talk to Chase about containing the virus at the hotel.

4:07 AM - 4:11 AM
Tony talks to Nicole Duncan, who is heading for the hotel to set up a mobile lab and a quarantine zone. Tony tells Nicole that Michelle is trapped inside the building, then hangs up to talk to Chappelle. Chappelle reminds Tony that he should order his men to kill anyone who tries to leave the Chandler Plaza.

At the hotel, Michelle and Gael tell Phillips to shut down all the elevators and block all exits. Phillips worries about guests using cell phones, but CTU is blocking all cell phone transmissions but theirs. Michelle also tells Phillips to deactivate the fire alarm. Phillips says it will take a while and leaves to get it done. Michelle apologizes to Gael for exposing him to the virus, but Gael tells her he was only doing what they would've done anyway.

Phillips comes upon another employee who is trying to clock out and leave. Phillips tells him to stay, but the man says he can't do any overtime because his wife is a week overdue. Phillips says he needs help controlling the guests because an irritant got into the air.

Back at the club, Amador manages to break lose from the radiator pipe and escape. But it seems that Jack anticipated this, as he has ordered Kim to track Amador. Kim tells Jack that Amador has just left. Jack and Chase leave to follow him.

4:16 AM - 4:20 AM
Wayne updates Palmer on the events at the hotel and tells him about the 11 other vials in play. Wayne leaves and Sherry enters. Sherry tells Palmer that Julia is accusing her of withholding Alan's medicine while he stroked out on the floor. Palmer angrily tells her that he never meant for her to cause Milliken's death. Sherry tells Palmer that if he doesn't back up her story, she'll tell the police that she was acting directly on his orders.

Amador uses a skeleton key to remove his handcuffs while driving. Jack and Chase follow him using a satellite map, tracking the transponder that Jack hid in a bandage on Amador's hand. Jack talks to Tony, who worries that Amador will escape without leading them to the man behind the virus. But Jack knows that Amador will need help leaving the country since he is wanted. Jack tells Tony to have Michelle compile a list of all of Amador's contacts. Tony tells Jack that Michelle has been trapped in the infected hotel. Jack tries to reassure Tony that the virus may have been altered.

4:21 AM - 4:24 AM
Amador calls the mysterious man behind the virus attack and tells him that he was detained by CTU. The man asks if Jack Bauer was one of the agents and Amador confirms it. The man asks if Amador told Jack about him, but Amador says no. Amador demands that the man help him get out of the country and the two arrange a meeting place. The mysterious man hangs up and hands his cell phone to his assistant, telling him to be sure and destroy it after he sets the timer.

Tony calls Nicole Duncan and asks if the virus could've been altered somehow, but Nicole says she won't know until she studies it. Tony asks if infection could be prevented if the person left the area quickly, but Nicole tells him that exposure is permanent. She assures Tony that they'll do what they can for Michelle.

At the hotel, Michelle and Gael learn that the entire building has been contaminated. Michelle is about to take a call when she sees that Gael's nose is bleeding. Gael tries to stop the blood while avoiding Michelle.

4:28 AM - 4:36 AM
Gael is wiping blood off of his face as his nose gushes. Michelle questions Alvers, demanding to know why one of her agents is showing symptoms. He doesn't answer at first, but she slaps it out of him. He promises to give her the information about the virus if she agrees to kill him once he starts showing signs of infection. Michelle nods her consent.

At District, Wayne briefs Palmer on the happenings at the hotel. Wayne then tells him that the LAPD considers Sherry to be a flight risk. Wayne urges Palmer to cover up for Sherry, or she will bring down his administration. Palmer argues with Wayne and demands to see the chief of police.

Michelle calls Tony at CTU and tells him about Gael's nosebleed. She learned that Alvers added an accelerant to the virus that brings on symptoms more quickly. Tony asks her if she was exposed to his blood. She says no, but that the entire hotel is infected. Tony starts to say something emotional, but Michelle says that they can't do this now.

At the hotel, the irate employee is in Phillips' office, demanding to know what's going on since every door is locked and there are people outside with guns. Phillips tries to calm him down, so the man sneaks into the basement and begins searching for a way out.

Michelle calls Gael and asks him how he's doing. He says the bleeding starts and stops and that he feels weak. Michelle promises to have a doctor look him over once NHS arrives. Gael tells her to hurry, since the panic will spread when the guests start to wake up. The irate employee eavesdrops on Gael and freaks out when he sees Gael coughing up blood. The employee pulls a fire alarm and then grabs a gun and keys to the doors. Michelle hangs up and runs to the lobby, ordering agents to cover all doors and let nobody out.

4:41 AM - 4:46 AM
Amador talks to the mysterious man again, who tells Amador to park at their agreed meeting place and to look for a silver Ford so he can pick up his travel documents. Amador says he'll need cash to help him escape. The man says he'll have it and Amador hangs up.

At the hotel, Michelle tries to calm the guests who have all been roused by the fire alarm. One man wants to know why the doors are locked and a woman wonders about the armed guards outside with gas masks. Michelle tells them that a toxic substance has been released outside the hotel and that they must keep them contained until it is dealt with. She assures them that they are safe as long as they stay inside the hotel. Phillips interrupts to tell her that a fire door is open downstairs. Michelle goes to check it out while Phillips calms the crowd.

Michelle discovers the irate employee trying to open the basement fire door. He tells her he's getting out and she tells him about the fictitious toxic substance outside. He knows better, since he just spotted Gael gushing blood. She tells him that the substance is inside and he can't leave or he'll spread it to others, including his pregnant wife. She disarms him and tells him he'll have to be isolated since he knows about it. Her phone rings and its Phillips, telling her that a woman is bleeding from the nose in the lobby.

4:53 AM - 5:00 AM
Palmer talks to the police chief and tells him that Sherry was with him for the entire evening. He then goes to Sherry and blasts her for making him cover up for her. He tells her that he despises her and orders her to get out of his sight.

Jack and Chase observe Amador as he meets with a henchman. The henchman gives Amador a briefcase and tells him it contains cash. Amador opens the case to check and the car that he and the henchman are sitting in explodes in a fiery blast. Jack and Chase run to check out the explosion and Jack tells Chase to have the area blocked off. Jack's cell phone rings. It's the Virus Man, who calls Jack by name. The man taunts Jack, saying that Jack was too good for Amador, but not him. "I need you to put me in touch with a friend of yours," the man continues.

In the hotel lobby, the guests are beginning to panic. One man smashes a window with a fire extinguisher. Michelle warns him that if he tries to escape, she'll shoot him. "No you won't," he mutters and dives for the opening. Michelle shoots him twice in the back. She looks shocked as the other guests scream.

Palmer gets a call from jack, who has the virus man on the line. The man tells Palmer that he is no longer in control of the country. He tells Palmer that he has enough of the virus to wipe out most of the population of America and if Palmer does not use the full powers of his office to carry out his wishes, he will release the virus. Then the man hangs up. Tick, tick, tick...
