After I heard the rumor about season 7 being Jack Bauer's last, I thought at first that there is no way they would do such thing as a non-Bauer season 8, but after a moment of thinking about it, I wanted to see what you guys would think of it. Now, the question is, would you be able to handle having a 24 season without Jack Bauer? Or would you go set off a bomb in the Fox offices?

I hope 24 keeps going even without jack bauer, but it would be a completely different show. It will lose fans, thats for sure.

Well, I know Season 3 required a lot of moments that lacked Jack Bauer. Some of it wasn't that good such as the Palmer storyline but I really did enjoy the Michelle Dessler storyline with the virus outbreak at the Chandler Plaza Hotel more than Jack's storyline at that time, so it's possible. However, they'll need to cast really strong actors for characters that are unlike Jack. They cannot have a carbon copy of Jack as a protagonist or the show will be a shadow of its former self.

the way i see it 2 things could happen

a) they get a new lead with a very strong personality but not like jack at all maybe if tony isn't bad after all it could be him but i think a new character will be better

b) make it an ensemble show

Hopefully Kiefer does season 8 like he signed on to do and then after that if he doesn't want to come back then they should try a new lead for a season and if that doesn't work bring him back for a season 10.

But if they made the person just a Jack wannabe that would be stupid. They need someone completely different, like a John McClane type character(Die Hard 1,2,3 type McClane, not 4) or something like that. If they make another Jack/Bourne character then it will just remain repetitive and no point to getting rid of Jack.

I think they should just end the show with Kiefer. That might have worked after season 2 or 3, but Jack is so engrained in the show now that I don't think doing it without him would really work at this point. I would be okay with season 7 being the last. I always thought that the show should have ended with 5 seasons and then maybe did a movie (a BIG maybe). I think ending it with 5 seasons (without killing everyone) would have given the opportunity to end the show on top with a great story arc. That would also have saved us all the needless character carnage from seasons 5 and 6. (Palmer and Tony)

I don't think the show could last without Jack bauer. I'd rather them just end it then not have Bauer in it.

End the show after season 8.

Keep Kiefer

Make the 24 theatrical movies.

Enough said.

I completely agree. End after season 8 and then make 1 or 2 movies to put on T.V. and maybe one big one in theatres. It would be a great way to keep the series alive after its over and that way the cast (especially kiefer) can pursue other projects.

Bringing in a new lead would be pointless. I can see it working as an ensemble, as long as some of the series' longer running actors/characters are retained, namely James Morrison, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Carlos Bernard.

I think the show would suck without Jack. I probably will not watch if Jack is not on the show. They should just stop the show if Keifer decides he doesn't want to be on the show anymore.

Maybe not, but what about using 24: The Rookie's character Jason Blaine? That might be worth a try.

24 without Jack would just be a spinoff. It wouldn't be the same show.

After 8 or 9 seasons maybe I could accept another lead, maybe introduce the character one season earlier and have Jack take a supervisory role to the new lead for a season. You could tell new stories this way and have a kind of a reboot. Of course I'd still be happy if they kept Jack till the end of time.

I would stop watching. 24 means Jack Bauer.
