In 2007, 3 Doors Down wrote a tribute song for the National Guard, entitled Citizen/Soldier. (edit) Greg Upchurch who was the drummer of Puddle of Mudd replaced Daniel Adair in 2005. (edit) When their song Loser stayed at #1 for 21 weeks on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart, it gained the longest stay of any song at #1. (edit) When the band were trying to decide which song should be their first single, they narrowed the choices down to two songs - It's Not Me and Let Me Go - then they left the decision up to some students. They were allowed to vote for which song they preferred, and Let Me Go won the vote and became the band's first single. (edit) The band say that Loser was written about a friend who got into trouble with drugs, but managed to turn himself around. (edit)

Brad Arnold (Speaking in 2006): We originally started The Better Life Foundation, it was named after our first record, and it was originally to benefit local children's charities, a lot of children's charities and a few of the homeless shelters, some of the battered women's shelters. The first year that was the intention, for the last two years the intention has been to put the Gulf Coast back together and just to raise money from around the country and even from around the world to bring back to the area and help people rebuild their lives. (edit) Chris Henderson: I'm not a fan of music. I don't listen to it. I feel it, it's just something that's in me. (edit) Chris Henderson: To listen to a performance, your performance, something you've worked so hard for, to be absolutely perfect, is really a good feeling. Makes it worth it. (edit) Matt Roberts: We write all of our songs. We write them collectively as well as individually. It depends on the song. There is no written formula to it. But, all our songs off the album are about normal life and everyday life. You know, kids in high school can see examples through our music and that’s what we wrote it for, just kind of real-life events. (edit) Chris Henderson (On their USO tour): We went over and played in Bahrain, and Spain, and Portugal, and on the U.S.S. George Washington, and it was something we really enjoyed, they treated us like kings, you know, we got to see a lot of shit that nobody will ever get to see. It was a lot of fun, and we definitely plan on doing something like that again. (edit)
