  • "Same Sex Parenting" episode

What a nutjob this chick Kati is. Jesus she is what gives straight people a bad name with all of her hypocrisy, sexual discrimination and her boatload of bs against morality. I haven't watched all the episodes but this one really made me laugh a lot. First of, she became angry when she feltMore others were attacking her beliefs yet had no problems showing her disgust for gay people what was it that she said? "The proliferation of gayness" shown openly by gay people.....like if it's a sickness or something. God forbid people show affection for one another; She acted like she cared for foster kids but really SHE DIDNT' she cared more about her outdated beliefs (give me a break in this day and age we've seen plenty of straight parents become horrible parents) than them. Anyone who really cared would have seen the bigger picture. I stopped watching near the end (after her hysterical blowup near the getogether at the end) so didn't see whether she saw the light at the end but man it was enough.

  • New Age Is Still A Scam

I want everyone to know right from the start that I've faithfully watched 30 Days since it premiered.   I'm a big fan of Morgan Spurlock and the work he does.   Typically, I find myself on the opposing side when a big issue comes into play, so when the single person is won over by the group atMore the end of the episode I can usually just agree and also come out having learned something.    For reasons I won't get into right here and now, I was on the side of the "illegal aliens" in the border control episode.    I take it as a compliment that people want to actually come to America, and I've always figured something had to be wrong with Mexico since we don't see Canadians "border hopping".   Living in Texas now, this has also become a hotter issue.   At the end of the episode, I learned a lot more about what actually goes on in Mexico and in the life on illegal immigrants living in the U.S.    So while my mind wasn't changed (Because I never felt that people should be denied access to this country), I did learn quite a bit.   I also enjoyed the athiest episode, because as a firm believer in God, I didn't think that "church" the family took the athiest to should have converted her... And it didn't.      In any case, all of the specifics of the other episodes can be shared and discussed at another time because this particular episode struck me as fairly bad. There is a word shared by carnies, magicians and grifters for people like the man we saw in the New Age episode, and that word is... mark .    Watch Criss Angel on Mind Freak.   Listen to anyone of any sort of profession of that nature reveal their secrets.    They will admit, it's completely mental.   If you tell someone that their hands are starting to feel hot, then if they're weak willed enough (And most people are, but it's not a reflection of poor character), then the person will say "My hands do feel hot"... Because they want to believe it.   Because in their mind, they do believe it.   Because it's completely mental. The man Morgan interviewed from Skeptic Magazine was 100% correct when he said these "remedies" were just placebos.    Of course if you tell someone to feel relaxed, they're probably going to start feeling relaxed.   If you go into a situation such as this, being a man such as we saw in this episode, you are most likely going to fall for every trick they play on you.     This man went in with a very open mind- and I respect him for that- but I just wish Morgan Spurlock would choose these people better.  In a typical situation on the show, the man has jars put over his back and turned into a vaccuum.   This is supposed to help his back pain.   Now, if I was there in his place, not only would I not be relaxed but I'd probably just end up screaming "What are you doing you crazy lady??!!?!?"   I wouldn't let myself give in to the show, because really it's all just smoke and mirrors. The second biggest problem I had with this particular episode was that Morgan talked to a young cancer patient who went through and did everything she was supposed to with medicine but then also encorporated some new age ideas and managed to beat cancer.  The fact that new age is kind of latching on and trying to take credit for this just sickens me.   Granted, it probably helped her stay in higher spirits, which in turn helped her to get better because as I keep telling you- it's all mental- but the fact is that the new age ~whatever~ can be easily substituted by whatever makes you happy. Let's say I had cancer.   I did all the medicine and stuff I was supposed to, while in my spare time playing video games.   Then, I get cured of the cancer.   I beat it.   Woohoo!  Video games cure cancer!!  Playstation stock is going to go through the roof! Do you get my point now?  Playing video games may have actually helped to make me feel better, but they did little else to actually remedy me. And granted, the procedures like acupuncture and "cupping" are just quick fixes to help you feel better for a while without doing any real healing.   You could go to a so-called faith healer and have the same effect (See: House, episode "House vs. God") What I loved most of all was how easily and quickly this man played into the entire show.    At one point, he was with his "life coach" and she made him kind of squat down and bark out a word.   He did so, and said he felt more energetic.   Hmm... Where have I seen that before?  Who squats down like that... Yells out a word or two... Maybe sometimes the word is "break"... Mmmm... Right!  I remember now!   That's a technique used by football players to psych themselves up!  Wait... Wasn't this guy a former football player? He was a football player.    Now he's just a mark.

Best Show in its category! hide show

Even before watching I knew I would love it because of Morgan Spurlock! Taking the idea behind Supersize Me and make it a TV Show was genius. Having a person immerse themselves in a particular lifestyle that is the opposite or different then their own is eye opening and very informative! I just wish this show was on prime time and everyone had access to it. The integration of enlightenment and entertainment is perfect. The only downside is if the person immersed in the new lifestyle refuses to learn, but even then you experience strong emotions and learn from it like every single episode! THIS is what reality tv should be all about! I hope more episodes come soon!!

A hour worth of eye opening material. hide show

This show takes controversial subjects (most of the time anyhow) (IE: Gun control avocate vs Gun entushiast, pro choice vs non pro choice, etc). Some shows puts a person in a bad situation (IE: 30 days of minimum wage, 30 days of being "paralized", 30 days of living on an Indian Reservation, etc...). This show is directed and produced by the same individual (Morgan Spurlock) who directed/stared in Super Size Me (2004). This is one of those very rare shows that takes a controversial subject and makes it approachable with others. 30 Days will get you talking about you side of the issue with another person and will help you keep an open mind. In some cases with this show I have watched it, been FIRMLY on one side of the issue before the show started, and ended up questioning my side of the arguement at the end of the show after seeing the other side. This show absolutely has the power to do that each and every time it shows. I look foward to it each week. I don't use my TIVO to record shows very often (I have maybe 5 or 6 set to record weekly), but this is one of them. It is an absolute must!

***** All the shows done for "30 Days" are excellent. hide show

This is reality TV in its true form. 30 Days is done very well, showing respect to its subjects. How would you like to see what it is like to walk in another's shoes without having to actually do so? To see how hard someone has to work to give society something that we take for granted? To see how the actions and beliefs of others can affect society for good and for bad? This show gives you that and more. This show should be mandatory viewing for everyone, and it should definitely be shown in the high schools. This show makes people think, understand, and, finally, to empathize. In this day and age, couldn't we use these traits? I cannot wait for more episodes. Thank you, Morgan Spurlock, for attempting to open up society's eyes. I've learned a lot and am a better person for watching.

A worlds througth somebody elese eyes hide show

I love this show because it shows one self to the side of the argument that rarely has a vioce. It lets one self look througth somebody elese eyes. The point just trying to say that you might have a different oppinion if you see the world with somebody eles eyes instead of oneself. Sometimes people change there side of the argument sometimes they don't but everybody have a new idea of the agument. The show gets a one sided person in a contrversel argument and let them live with another person on the oppisite side of the argument and live with them on their territory. Most of the episodes are great and informitive. And its a new topic everytime. This show is also funny at times and enterataining. It is also very down to earth. Over all I got to say this show is awesome. And worth a try.

This is what other news/informative, like 20/20 etc., shows should strive to be. I watched these episodes without even seeing the movie SuperSize Me and loved them! hide show

This is what other news/informative, like 20/20 etc., shows should strive to be. I watched these episodes without even seeing the movie SuperSize Me and loved them for their honesty and integrity of reporting the truth that we are often blind or misinformed about.

As Americans, we need to WAKE UP to things that are going on. Too often we turn a blind eye or are just plain indifferent to what's going on because of how the media and programs water it down for us. For example, I hated watching shows like 20/20 or Prime Time because they painted pictures with their style of journalism to "persuade" you to think or feel a certain way about an issue in the first 30 minutes and then paint an entirely different picture in the last 30 minutes. It was more like watching them portray things the way they wanted and so conveniently in those last 30 minutes. This show DOES NOT do that but in fact shows the "reality" of life, people, etc. without fancy "persuasions". Plus the integrity is shown in the fact that, as you can see in the first episode as well as in the movie, that Morgan Spurlock is thorough with trying to find and relay his report to us. We could only be so lucky that the government worked this way! We definitely would have avoided alot of international messes and have a balanced budget to boot! But don't take my word for this show. Watch a couple episodes yourself and make an educated judgement. After all, that's probably what Mr. Spurlock would want you to do in the first place.
