Show Summary [edit]

Dealing with life in a studio at NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza (the title is a shortening of that), the show centers around Liz Lemon, played by Saturday Night Live's Tina Fey, who's the head writer of The Girlie Show. When her old boss dies and a new boss comes in (Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy), demanding the addition of a volatile former movie star (and re-branding the show TGS with Tracy Jordan in the process), Liz must figure out how to keep things running smoothly without losing her mind.
Jane Krakowski plays Liz's friend Jenna Maroney, the former headlining star who's all too aware her time to rely on her look is running out.
Tracy Morgan plays Tracy Jordan, and out-of-control comedy star whose movie career vanished.
Scott Adsit plays producer (and Liz's confidant) Pete Hornberger.
Judah Freidlander is writer Frank Rossitano, a slovenly man who's into porn and comic books.
Jack McBrayer plays NBC page Kenneth Parcell, a naive Georgia man who seems to always let NYC get the best of him.

Congrats to the cast and crew of the incredible comedy series "30 Rock" (not that they'll ever read this or anything) for their TEN Emmy Nominations. The show ties other freshman series "Ugly Betty" with the most nominations for a comedy series. "30 Rock" was nominated in the following categories:

Outstanding Comedy Series (Episode: Hard Ball)

Outstanding Direction for a Comedy Series (Episode: The Breakup)

Outstanding Writing fora Comedy Series (Episode: Jack-Tor)

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Episode: Tracy Does Conan)

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series - Alec Baldwin (Episode: Hiatus)

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series - Tina Fey (Episode: Up All Night)

Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series

Outstanding Guest Actress for a Comedy Series - Elaine Stritch (Episode: Hiatus)

    Outstanding Main Title Theme Music

Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Half Hour Comedy or Drama Series (Episode: Corporate Crush)

I am really excited for 30 Rock! They totally deserve to be so richly nominated. If "Jack-tor" wins Best Writing, I will be very happy. And I really think Alec Baldwin has a chance at Best Actor...the Lead Actress category is a great group, so probably more of a longshot.

This is awesome news. Hopefully a few Emmy wins and the Jerry Seinfeld appearance will give the show a boost in the ratings come fall.

I think the show has a decent shot at winning Best Comedy, although The Office is probably the favorite.

The same goes for Alec Baldwin...good shot, but Steve Carell is probably the frontrunner.

I'm glad Tina Fey got nominated, but she's a long shot. I expect America Ferrera to win.

I'm disappointed that Will Arnett didn't get a nod for Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. His verbal sparring with Baldwin was hilarious.

I was also really expecting an Emmy nod for Arnett, especially since he nabbed a Supporting Actor nod last year for AD. Oh well. Maybe we'll see him again this year!

I think Series-wise, 30 Rock deserves to win, but probably won't with The Office and Ugly Betty also in the running. Ugly Betty is probably the frontrunner there, with The Office pretty much riding it's back. If The Office wins again, I'll jump for joy since it's currently my favorite series on television, but I still think 30 Rock deserves to win. They submitted HARD BALL, possibly the most smartly written episode of the 06-07 year!

Baldwin took home the Globe and the Actor (SAG), earlier this year. I think he's a lock for the win. I even think his old controversy could help him. Giving him the Emmy as kind of a "sorry we humiliated you with something private earlier this year". I really don't think that will hurt him at all. Carell is always competition though, and I wouldn't cry if Gervais came in for a surprise victory. Extras should have been nominated for Series instead of Two and a Half Men.

Sorry Fey, I love you, but you're battling some heavyweights this year: Huffman is always solid, Louis-Dreyfus won last year, and Ferrera has swept this year. Ferrera seems like an easy pick to win.

I know not many people like her, but I kind of feel like Krakowski was robbed of a nomination this year. Sure, on a whole she was very uneven this year, but her submitted tape was for HARD BALL! She kicked ass in the episode. The Supporting Actress category is loaded with unworthy nominees. Fischer is the only truely deserving nominee, and I can live with Pressly and Perkins... but what about the other 3?! Williams is only there because of the Ugly Betty sensation, and I don't understand how Two and a Half Men (make that ANY CBS comedy) get nominated! They're all trash, with the exception of King of Queens, which didn't get ONE nomination. I think this category is down to either Fischer or Pressly. If there is an justice, Fischer gets it.

Okay, there you have it. My feelings on this years Emmys.

I'm happy to see "30 Rock" get all that sweet Emmy love, but odds are "The Office" will repeat as Best Comedy. If it's any condolence, Baldwin is a shoo-in for Lead Actor in a Comedy.

Louis-Dreyfus might get the sympathy vote because of the way CBS has treated her show (only for midseason next year? Come on!), though it would be cool if fellow SNL alumna Fey upsets her. I hope "Tracy Does Conan" wins in the writing category since I thought that was the best episode of any of the comedies last season especially whenever Rachel Dratch appears as Tracy Jordan's blue creatured hallucination and his reactions to her. And I love Two and a Half Men and the performances of Conchatta Ferrel and Holland Taylor who I've loved since the days of Bosom Buddies!

I loved all the nominations 30 Rock got! They are all really deserving. Since I think Tina doesn't have a shot at winning best actress, I'm hoping she'll win for "Tracy Does Conan". I also hope the show wins, but I think it's a longshot. It's not popular enough to win... I hope I'm wrong, because this is one of the funniest, best written shown on TV right now.

Two things missing: a best writing nomination for "Hard Ball" and a best supporting actress nomination for Jane Krakowski. She was amazing on Hard Ball, no matter what people think about her.

Ditto on the Krakowski comment. You can't deny she stole the show in Hard Ball. I was kinda hoping for "Cleveland" to get nominated for Best Song in a Series, too. Oh well.

It would be cool if"Cleveland" was nominated, but it would be hard to root for it when "Dick in a Box" is also nominated. lol

What do you mean, treated? "Old Christine" isn't exactly a smash in the ratings. Odds are, CBS wants to build its comedy stock, but it needed a wild card show that was willing to sit out the first part of the season.

The plethora of nods was a pleasant surprise; normally the committee tends to overlook first-year shows.

I actually think the show has more chances than Baldwin... if the producers choose the right episodes, I really doubt any other show will beat 30 Rock.

Either way, the episodes have been chosen, and I'm confident that Baldwin and the writers will pick up a statuette.

Elaine Stritch won the Emmy for Best Guest Actress for a Comedy Series at the Creative Arts Emmys. I hope this means we'll be seeing more of her this season!

And just like the last time she won an Emmy, she cursed up a storm! Good thing the second-tier awards don't air live.
