With Annie away, helping Mary out with her babies, Eric is busy taking care of the household while dealing with an excruciating pain in his neck that just won't go away. Eric substitutes for Lucy when he visits a patient in the hospital named Stanley. After tests are run to determine the exact cause of the pain in Eric's neck the doctor gives Eric some shocking news about his health. Eric decides to pull Sam and David out of school after their teacher Ms. Margo makes a pass at him. Meanwhile, Kevin tells Lucy that it's his brother Ben's birthday (guest star Geoff Stults) so she'll let him stay with them for a few days.

Given that baby Savannah was born in January 2005 (the middle of Season 9) and is therefore only three months away from her second birthday, it's very unusual that she is not walking or talking at all. Either Lucy or Kevin are always holding her, and except for a little babbling in the Season 11 opener, she isn't talking.

Eric learns in this episode that his heart condition has worsened since his bypass operation.

A Pain in the NeckPerfect "Exactly why I watch this series" Eric hard a rough night. I would be scary to, if a big dog came right into my face.
