Aaron Spelling was executive producer of a 1983 movie that had a similar premise as this episode does. The movie was called Mr. Mom which starred Michael Keaton and Teri Garr where an unemployed husband was left alone with his kids while his wife went out to work. Although, in the Camdens case Annie just went away on a little vaction and not work. (edit)
In Germany this episode is known as, On Distance, translated. (edit)
This episode was originally suppose to air on January 17, 2000, but The WB pushed it back a week to January 24, 2000 for some unknown reason. (edit)
7th Heaven's "Happy" the dog was nominated for Favorite TV Pet by the TV Guide Awards in 2000. (edit)
TV Guide says, "Annie is at the end of her rope--- and ready to strangle her family with it--- in this funny and touching episode." (edit)

Mary: Where's breakfast?
Annie: You take cereal, you take the milk, you pour it into the bowl, it's not rocket science! (edit)
Simon: What have you been doing all day?
Annie: (annoyed) I've got other things on my mind. (edit)
Annie: And I thought you were an angel--you must think I'm nuts.
Hattie: No, I don't. Because when you think about it, what's the difference? Angels, friends, family, they're all the same thing, aren't they?
Annie: Yes, yes they are. (edit)
Ruthie: (to Eric, angrily) Your wife called! (slams the door) (edit)
Annie: I need a time out! Did everybody hear me!? Mommy is taking a time out! (edit)

Trivia

Ruthie walkes out of the bathroom in her robe with a towel around her head. She talks to Eric for a second and then she goes to her room. One minute later she returns, fully dressed, and her hair is dry and curly. Wouldn't her hair be wet underneath the towel, since she just got out of the shower?? (edit)
Lucy and Mary are sitting in their bedroom, waiting for their crushes to call when the phone rings. Mary grabs it and it's Annie. She says to tell Eric that she reached the motel and that she'll call back to talk to him later. Mary hangs up and Ruthie walks in. She asks if it was Annie. Lucy says "Yes, it was, now go tell Dad that Mom made it to the motel and that she'll call him later." How would Lucy know what Annie had said? Mary was the one that talked to Annie and she wouldn't have time to tell Lucy what she said, as Ruthie had just walked in. (edit)
Ruthie walked out of the bathroom and was talking to Simon, a couple minutes later the twins are coming out of the bathroom. Could the twins really have taken a bath that fast? (edit)
When Ruthie was walking out of the shower, you could see a pin in the towel she had wrapped around her head. She wouldn't have been able to pin it and wouldn't really need to. (edit)
After Annie leaves Eric answers the phone. Right after answering he says, "Ruthie did what?" In that short amount of time he wouldn't have heard what happened and what kid did it. (edit)
