Chores at home are interrupted, however, when Ruthie discovers Frankie and Johnny's baby, Mercy at the Camden front doorstep. Meanwhile, Lucy stays with her friend Mike's (guest-star Jeremy Lelliot) near catatonic mother for the day, and drops a proverbial bomb on Lucy. Also, Matt and Simon try to figure out why they delivered Mrs. Bink (guest-star Eileen Brennan) to the hospital.

This is the last episode featuring the Frankie and Johnny storyline. (edit)

Quotes

Ruthie: (fixing herself a snack) All that cleaning sure makes you hungry.
Annie: Baby cereal and bananas?
Ruthie: It's really good. (takes a big bite) Want some?
Annie: You know, on a normal day, I'd have plenty of time to figure out what it is you're up to, but today is a very busy day--so what do you say you give me a break and tell me what's going on? (edit)
Annie: So basically, this is about your pride. Pride is not a luxury that you can afford if you want to keep your baby. You have to talk to your parents.
Johnny: I can't. They said they would never forgive me. They won't talk to me.
Annie: Yes, they will. I spoke with them earlier on the phone. They want to talk with you, they want to help. So now, all you have left to do is swallow your pride, get up off that bench, and go and call them. We can go back to Pete's and call them.
Johnny: It's not going to be easy.
Annie: Being a parent never is. Let's go. (edit)
Annie: Who would leave a baby on our doorstep?
Ruthie: God.
Annie: That's sweet, but I think God had a little help on this one. (edit)
Robbie: What's that pizza lady's baby doing here?
Annie: You've seen this baby?
Robbie: Yeah, at Pete's Pizza.
Annie: Frankie and Johnny.
Robbie: Yeah, that's her name. Frankie. She works at Pete's and brings the baby in with her sometimes.
Annie: Are you sure this is her?
Robbie: No offense, because all babies are beautiful, but I'd recognize that head anywhere. (edit)
Eric: I still can't believe I forgot my birthday!
Ruthie: You're old. Old people forget stuff. (edit)

Trivia

add »
Eric's assumption that Mary has "run away from the Colonel and Ruth" doesn't make any sense. Eric knows that George and his parents know about Mary coming home, because George accidentally told him over the phone. It doesn't count as "running away" if the guardians know about it. (edit)
Look closely in the scene where Eric arrives at his party. When they start singing "Happy Birthday," Lucy holds out her hands to dance with Eric--and when he doesn't respond, she awkwardly puts them back down. (edit)
When Johnny walks into the pizza place, Mercy turns her head to look at him, but when the camera angle changes, her head is facing the other way. (edit)
Who said Wilson was living in GlenOak during this episode... ever heard of visiting? Maybe he just flew in for the weekend to visit. His parents also still live there. (edit)
Wilson West (Mary's ex-boyfriend) made a cameo appearance in this episode. However, three months later, he runs into Mary in Buffalo, New York. What are the chances that someone will move during the middle of the year during work and school to move all the way across the country, and then run into their ex-girlfriend? (edit)
