(edit) Interestingly enough, Catherine LePard (writer) created her own series for cable channel Lifetime called For The People which is a similar title to this episode that she'd written, We the People. (edit) After this episode originally aired, the WB debuted the series premiere of Rescue 77, an hour-long drama that was also produced by Spelling Television just like 7th Heaven. Eric: (To the Teacher's Board) I was going to say that Jack Brenner's a friend a mine. And I don't like what he did. Should he be punished? How? And how much? By whom? And who gets to decide? (edit) Annie: So you just convinced your sister to going out on a date so you could avoid taking responsibility for your own actions?
Mary: It's not like she didn't want to go out with him... totally.
Annie: I don't care. You're older. You're supposed to be more mature and experienced. And even if she were willing I expect you to make the right decision for everyone involved. But instead you decided to lie too many times to count and you used your sister and an innocent guy. And now you're trying to defend that decision? Interesting choice.
Mary: I didn't mean for anybody to get hurt.
Annie: A family's a lot like a pond. If something happens to one of us, it's like dropping a stone in that pond. It makes ripples. And no matter what you did or didn't mean to do, those ripples extend outward and touch other people... go help your brother and sister with their paper route.
Mary: Why!? They wanted the paper route, not me.
Annie: Because I'm asking you to, and because 20 minutes of your time will save them an hour. And because maybe if you watch them you might learn commitment to someone other than yourself, diligence and compassion.
Mary: I know it's not enough. I'm sorry, I really am.
Annie: No, it's not enough, but at least you know that. (edit) Gillian: I don't think you should resign. I think you should fight. We both should. (edit) Annie: I understand that you're helping Simon and Ruthie out with a little something.
Mrs. Hinkle: I don't know what you're talking about.
(Annie kisses her on the cheek.)

If the price of the paper is $18.50, why then do we see Simon collecting purely bills at the beginning of the episode? Shouldn't he also have change to give customers or change being given to him? (edit) Re: It could be an afternoon edition. A lot of papers deliver an afternoon edition. (edit) Why is Simon and Ruthie delivering papers in the middle of the day? Most newspaper boys have to deliver papers very early in the morning before people go to work. (edit) Why didn't Simon just simply stop delivering Mr. Mallones newspaper until he pays his bill? It makes more sense than just going around and begging for money and continuing to deliver his paper. (edit) NITPICK: At the end of the episode why are the Camdens deliving the newspapers so late in the day? Usually papers are delivered early in the morning before people go to work and stuff. You can tell it's later in the day. (edit)
