When an ill woman tells Edith to let her die with dignity at the SunShine Home, the woman's family are furious after her death. The manager fires Edith for her selfishness, even though Edith honoured the woman's wish. Later that night, the woman's daughter thanks Edith to be with her mother as she passed away since she (the daughter) never got to visit her own mother back then.
Write a Recap »This is an interesting story, especially in that time period, about whether someone should die with dignity. Edith sat by a patient's side while she died instead of calling for help. The patient had just expressed to her how she wanted to die and be with her husband, but of course there were no such things as living wills back then so the family got all upset by Edith's actions. But in the end the woman's daughter thanked Edith for being strong enough to just sit there and let her go. And in a rare moment of compassion, Archie told Edith that he thought she did the right thing.
