Presumed Guilty Reviews

In this episode of CSI Miami, the following happens. We open this episode with a trial, for murder. We also quickly learn the verdict, which is that of the man being guilty. When a fly in found inside of the body bag, the case get re-opened. The further the team dig into the case, the more evidence they find to support the theory that the man, who was convicted for the murder, did not commit it. When the eye-witness goes missing, they soon learn that she holds the key to the case. After photos are taken of a car, the team see that the kidnap victim is in the boot of the car. They search it and the missing girl isn’t there. So they get word of another location where he may have taken the missing girl too, and so the team head there. Once there, the team begin their search and soon find the missing girl in an underground tunnel. Soon the man they have in custody admits to killing the girl and writes down his confession. We learn that he killed her after she told him he was going to tell his wife about their affair. He also admits to having help to move the body and to frame the other man who was convicted. In his confession he admits that the person, who helped him, was in fact a judge. The same judge was the one who was on the case and who sent an innocent man to jail. And so at the end of the episode, the innocent man who was sent to prison is set free.

A young woman named Lindsay Garland is murdered and Alfonso Reyes is setup to take the blame and goes to prison for the murder. After new evidence, in form of a blow flies that have infested the victims body-bag the case is reopened. The blow flies prove that Lindsay was killed outside and not in the locker room where initially presumed. The defense lawyer in the case, Derek Powell tells Horatio that a witness named Tammy Whitten had come forward, but disappeared just as fast and was a known crackpot who had attempted suicide on multiple occasions. Further evidence in the form of blood in the victims car leads the CSI's to Kevin Sheridan who is take in for questioning. The judge who tried the case refuses a search warrant and Derek Powell takes him on as a client. Powell is there every time the CSI's try to gather evidence and somehow gets it nullified. Sheridan is pulled over in a traffic stop by Ryan Wolfe for a broken taillight and is once again rebuked by Derek Powell who is on the scene. Wolfe takes pictures of the taillight and takes them back to the lab for analysis. Upon inspection of the taillight pictures it is found that the break was from the inside and an eyeball could be seen through the break that turns out to be Tammy Whitten. This evidence produces a search warrant for Sheridan's house, where nothing turns up. The police look for Tammy in the trunk of Sheridan's car but it is empty. Horatio says to arrest Sheridan and hold him for 48 hours. After hearing all of the events, Derek Powell gives Horatio a clue as to where the girl may be. A search party is dispatched to an area and Tammy Whitten is found. Sheridan confesses to the crime and implicates the Judge Thorpe, who tried the original case and denied a search warrant for Sheridan's home helped him put the body in Alfonso Reyes's locker and frame him for murder. The judge had sent an innocent man to prison.

The plot was mildly interesting, but Diddy was a disaster. He can't act and the other cast members trying to act like they took him seriously couldn't pull it off. Nothing you haven't seen before, except this time the shady defense attorney is being played by someone who doesn't have a clue what he's doing. There wasn't a single scene that Diddy was in that he didn't look like he was acting, and failing miserably. I can't for the life of me figure out why they bothered. Please don't try to force any more wooden wannabe actors into the show.

Presumed guilty is probably my favorite episode all season. The writers did an excellent job with Diddy's character. A man who was convicted of the murder is later proved innocent. If turns out to be another country club member who commited the murder, who was defended by Diddy's character as well. He was helped out by the judge from the innocent man's case. This episode was also great because it didn't have any eric/calleigh moments... thank god... those two shouldn't be together. This episode is what CSI is all about. This case was not only intriguing, but had a good outcome. Well done writers.

How many times can the same old, tired plot devices be recycled? As soon as the country club worker was convicted I knew he was innocent. Sean Combs' character was recycled directly out of a previous episode of "CSI: Miami" in which Tom Siezemore guest starred as a private investigator who tried to stop Horatio and his team. Sean Combs' performance in and of itself is another reason why this episode misses the target. His character is just too ridiculous to be believed. This is in my mind the worst episode so far this season. Let's hope things get better.
