After the battle between Pinehearst and Primatech, Pete, Claire, Matt, and Daphne try to live normal lives, while a powerless Hiro tries to teach Ando how to use his new special ability and become a superhero. However, Claire discovers Nathan's plan to track down those with abilities.

Volume 4 is entitled Fugitives and so this volume focuses on our Heroes running from government agents that try to catch them and put them away.
Claire finds out that Noah is hiding what he is really doing these days. She realizes that Angela is also involved and so is Nathan who is in charge of an operation to catch all the special people and imprison them thinking that this may be the only way of feeling safe again. She warns Peter and visits Matt to warn him.
Peter meanwhile, is a paramedic who is trying to save lives. When he gets a call from Claire he visits his parental house and there he finds Nathan who asks him to come with him and help his purpose but Peter refuses. Then Nathan asks him to meet up with dinner so they can talk. When Peter finally gets home, Nathan waits for him and together with Noah they tazer him and take him away. Mohinder is working as a camp driver and after he takes Peter to his appartment, he picks up a mysterious man who threatens him with a gun unless he drives. Leading him to an abandoned building, the mysterious man and some men try to make him come with them but Mohinder runs away. He finds Noah who picks him up. Thinking that Noah is on his side, Mohinder tells him everything he needs to know (if Claire has talked with him) and then Noah gives him to the same people Mohinder has just run from. Tracy is at home when she receives a call from the Governor. He tells her to turn on the TV and listen to Senator Nathan talk about this program he has put in motion (to capture dangerous people; he doesn't reveal that those people have superpowers). When she hangs up she notices the window is open and then men get inside and capture her.
Hiro tries to make Ando a superhero and even finds their lair. After Hiro tags Ando so he can track him anywhere he goes, Ando takes off and goes to a strip club with his newly given (by Hiro) motorcycle (named in this episode Ando-cycle). When Ando receives a phone call from Hiro he hears that men got into their lair and have captured Hiro. Ando sees his location and it is at an airfield.
Matt is with Daphne now and the two of them have an argument on how and when they should use their abilities. When Daphne leaves, Matt gets a visit by Usutu who tells him that he is there to guide him and help him become a pre-cog. Matt hesitates at first but later discovers he not only can draw but he can draw the future. He draws a future with him and Claire looking over some papers and at that moment Claire appears to warns him. Then, a tazer knocks Matt unconscious and the armed men take Claire.
Finally, Sylar finds his father Martin Gray who is a watch-maker and asks him if he is in fact his real father (just as Angela said in Dual). He admits Sylar was given to him and his wife (Virginia Gray) in exchange for money. His real father is Samson Gray and it is Martin's brother. Getting the address from Martin Sylar heads to Samson's residence and there men attack him. Thinking he was set up in some kind of trap, Sylar manages to escape from the armed men.
In the end, Claire, Tracy, Mohinder, Matt, Peter and Hiro along with other special people are confined to negate their powers and put into a plane. All except Claire who Nathan takes and puts into a car. When Claire wakes up she attacks the driver and heads into the plane to save the others. In there, she finds Peter (who touches Mohinder and gets his superstrength) and together they nutrilize the armed guards on the plane. Claire heads to the cockpit and there she sees her father, Noah. Peter is knocked off his feet and accidentilly touches Tracy and gets her freezing power. With that he freezes and shatters accidentally the back of the plane and the plane goes down.
Overall, an OK episode. I expected more for a volume premiere but it was still the middle of the season and so they couldn't have done much. It does get better as much as I can remember. I have to admit I do like Peter's new power; it makes it more exciting. Powerless Hiro is also good to watch. What I didn't like is Matt's new skill; to draw the future. I know the writers explained how Matt did it (if Matt can control all the functions of the brain he is presumably able to do that as well). Regardless, it doesn't fit with the whole telepathy Matt has. Finally, you have to like the new addition to the cast that of the Hunter (the person that brings all our Heroes into the plane) played by Zeljko Ivanec. Enjoy!
The last thing Heroes needs is to become an overblown chase narrative in which everyone runs around for forty five long, drawn out minutes. hide show
Much has been made of the perceived failure of Heroes' third volume, 'Villains'. Television periodicals stoked viewer panic with feature after feature decrying the show's descent into mundanity. 'Too much plot!', 'not enough character development!', 'forced character changes!', 'betrayals of continuity!', 'lack of motivation!', 'too much time travel!': all sensationalised headlines that, when combined, painted a bleak portrait of a show on the cusp of sinking under the weight of its own highly set standards. To be fair, some of these criticisms have a degree of validity: certainly, by the end of the volume, cracks were beginning to appear in the master plan. Things were getting a little too sloppy. So, out go the convoluted generation-spanning mythology arcs about previously-thought dead fathers and complex scientific formulas and in comes a straightforward narrative singularity about otherness and social segregation. While I still have trouble buying into Nathan's transformation into a contemporary Adolf Hitler I suppose it's something I'm just going to have to swallow if I wish to impartially enjoy and review the show. And honestly, aside from this niggling scab and the reappearance of Sylar who really needs to learn to stay dead (even if his plot is fairly minimal and more than a little pleasingly creepy), Kring's script works really rather well.
There's something refreshing about the simplicity of the thing: there's no grand scheme to destroy the world or mobilise an army. All we have here is one man's psychotic desire to round up those like him and throw them as far away as possible, probably due to his own internalised phobia and self-loathing. The plot moves forward at a steady pace, manoeuvring everyone into position, and gives us a rather delightful climactic sequence in which everyone gets to dress up in Slipknot jumpsuits and have an in-flight catastrophe. It's excitingly disturbing stuff and does show promise, although I have my concerns over the possibilities inherent in the narrative trajectory. Hopefully, things won't be as simple as 'crazy psycho Zelko Ivanjek chases after the Heroes week in, week out and they stay one step ahead of him because Parkman is now, conveniently enough, a prophet.' While every second that Andre Drazen, sorry Ivanjek, is on our screens is a joy to behold, that would become very old, very fast. The last thing Heroes needs is to become an overblown chase narrative in which everyone runs around for forty five long, drawn out minutes. The show is so much more than that and let's hope that Kring and co.'s desire to up the ratings and please the critics by calming things down doesn't mean that they send the show into cardiac arrest. Still, an encouraging start to volume four and arguably worth it for the Ando Cycle alone. Here's to a revitalised programme!
Another Fine Example. The Heroes are being herded up like cattle. hide show
Wow what a great episode. After the battle between Pinehearst and Primatech is over, Peter, Claire, Parkman, and Daphne are are all trying to live normal lives. Peter is a paramedic, Claire is living with Angela Petrelli and Matt and Daphne are living together with Daphne as a delivery person and Matt as a cop.
This is when all hell breaks loose. Nathan and Angela Petrelli have hatched a plan to capture all Heroes good and bad to lock the away to protect society. They capture all the ones they are looking for except Sylar; and this is because he is to powerful.
All of the heroes are brought to an airplane hanger and loaded onto a large military plane. Claire is one of the ones that is caught and Nathan lets her go. She is being driven away in a car when she kicks the driver in the head and knocks him out and she gets away. Claire stows away on the plane before it takes off. While in the air, Claire wakes Peter and he gains the power of Seresh and breaks free. He then starts freeing the other heroes. One of the heroes peter touches and absorbs her power is Tracy Strauss. Peter is fighting with the guards and puts his hand on the side of the plane and it freezes and breaks open. While all of this is going on, Claire goes to the cockpit of the plane to force them to land and sees her father (Noah Bennett) there and is totally surprised and disappointed. Meanwhile people and things are being sucked out of the plane and Peter is on his way out when Suresh grabs his hand. In the closing seconds their fingers are slipping apart.
Also in this episode Parkman is visited by Usutu and told that he has been chosen to be a Profit. At this time Parkman starts to have visions and can draw the future.
This was a very busy and tense episode. What will happen to the heroes in the next episode?
It will take everyone working together to stop what's coming. Nathan just started a war. hide show
It is now obvious why the writers removed Peter and Hiro's powers: without them, they can't time travel back and fix it. The future is set and this time it's bigger than one man (Nathan), he's told the president and the president will take action. There's no way to stop this ball rolling now, it will spread like wildfire and even Nathan couldn't stop it if he somehow changed his mind. Given what some of their powers are, how could the entire group not be seen as a threat? Even Peter went nuclear and he's the best of them all. This future cannot be stopped and we'll see the same events from the previous futures: camps, genocide, death squads but this time it will be far worse because this time, Nathan and Peter are truly enemies and Nathan really seems to hate Peter now. Without his powers, there's not much Peter can do against this, he needs his powers back. This is truly going to be a full-blown war. Though Nathan learned from the last time he went public, this time it's done very, very quietly.
Future Peter was right: kill Nathan, stop the future. It's Nathan, it's always Nathan! As much as I adore Nathan, for whatever reason destiny has chosen him to be the catalyst around which the future horrors occur every time. Peter thought when Nathan decided not to go public that it was over, that Nathan no longer had to die and he backed off. If Peter had killed him, none of this would have happened!
We pick up two months later with everyone back to their normal lives, trying to forget the nightmare of the last year. With the exception of Nathan who's been busy – they've developed body armor that's immune to powers!! Nathan himself told them to start with Tracy.
Peter's gone back to work! He's a paramedic now. This is Peter's natural gift but it will also make him acutely aware of his lack of powers.
Angela has taken her granddaughter under her wing and wants her to go to the best college. "I've discussed this with your father at length." "Which one?" "Both of them." How can actually think Sylar is dead, dental records or not? He's got Claire's healing power so he's immortal too. Claire hears of people with powers disappearing and assumes it's Sylar but by eavesdropping, finds out that it's Nathan! Today his team will be going after Peter and Matt. Angela is helping him with Claire. The weird thing is she warns Peter but only about Matt – did she misunderstand the conversation?
History repeats itself: Peter gets into Mohinder's cab and like the last time, get into a conversation about being Special. Mohinder, having been the bad guy, knows the dangers Nathan speaks of and Peter, who always stops it, knows of the internment camps and segregation that comes with Nathan's plan, having seen the future. Minutes later, Mohinder is taken to Nathan's team but still has his powers. He's rescued by Bennet except that Bennet is working for Nathan!! It makes sense, of all people he knows how dangerous people with abilities can be. He's been doing this most of his life, he's good at it and despite having no powers himself, he knows how to deal with a variety of powers.
Daphne's a bike messenger which means her powers are a huge assist. Matt's a bodyguard but wants to be a private detective, which would be very cool and the perfect use of his powers.
Peter goes home to speak to Angela but finds Nathan instead. Nathan extends an olive branch but I don't trust him for a second. I know Nathan and this is not how he is with Peter, he's lying. He's setting Peter up so he can bag and tag him and Peter suspects it. He casually asks Peter what his powers are now and Peter keeps his mouth shut and plays dumb. But here's the thing: Peter's power is absorption of powers and now that he has a power back (and it happened to be a power he had before), chances are excellent that the absorption power has kicked back in. His body 'remembers' having that power. That's why he keeps saying 'I should have been faster, I should have been stronger.' What a fantastic scene! I do love them together, even now when they're enemies. The only reason Nathan hasn't attacked Peter yet is because he's being wary, he doesn't know what Peter's powers are. And we all know, with Peter's powers he's the most powerful of them all, the biggest threat, Nathan's right to be cautious. Watch the camera angles here, Nathan is filmed level but Peter is filmed at an upward angle.
If Usutu wasn't already dead, I'd ask him what he's been smoking! He says Matt is going to be a prophet! Newsflash – The gunk that Usutu made Matt take is permanent – he can paint the future now. If that's true, does that mean Hiro can too? That stuff gives powers (or at least just this one) just like the serum did.
Without Hiro's powers, he's living through Ando, trying to make him a superhero. Love Ando's jacket with the red lightning bolt. Hiro injects Ando and himself with trackers and through the radio, Ando hears Hiro get snatched. Doesn't Nathan know his powers are gone? Next is Matt who had just been warned by Claire. Nathan was specific, Claire was not to be involved.
Peter goes home to find Nathan waiting. Peter knows! He looks at Nathan then starts checking the room to see if they're alone. Knowing how important and powerful Peter is, not to mention that people trust Peter, Nathan actually makes a play to win Peter over. Plus he knows if he moves against Peter, Peter will turn against him and take action like he always does. This is confirmation that Nathan has not named Peter yet, but if Peter refuses, he will. He asks Peter for a hug, he's saying goodbye. Bennet tranqs him. "Don't hurt him."
Sylar tracks down his adopted father, Martin Gray. Martin is Sylar's uncle, not father. His father Samson is a taxidermist. Interesting how he has traits of both his father and uncle. The team comes for Sylar and despite an impressive effort, they fail. This is what would have happened if they'd taken on Peter with his powers but instead Nathan tricked him.
All the captives are tied up, bags over their heads, the works. Nathan is not happy to find Claire's been taken too. Interesting, he doesn't let his brother go but he releases his daughter. Big mistake, Claire immediately takes out her driver and boards the plane. If she frees them, they will all turn on Nathan and ally under Peter, who is every inch the leader that Nathan is and Nathan will be facing an army of his own kind!
Claire manages to find Peter who conveniently is sitting next to Mohinder and takes his super strength. Strangely, Peter only gets the powers when he touches them. Then as Claire takes out the guards and confronts her father, Peter accidentally takes Tracy's cryokinesis, only realizing it when he fights the guard and the super strength is gone then accidentally damages the wall of the plane. Peter only has one power at a time! As his flying power is gone, Peter struggles not to go out the hole and sweetly, Mohinder grabs him… just as the plane is about to crash…
Very awesome, this season has been a little erratic now and then but it's back on course and this episode is a game changer, big things ahead!
After the destructions of Primatech and Pinehearst, the Heroes attempt to start new lives. Claire uncovers the plot by Nathan to hunt down and capture all people with abilities. Sylar begins searching for his biological parents. I thought Heroes Volume 3 ended well but it did have a load of poor episodes in there the last five episodes where decent so I hoped for a decent Volume four.
I have to say this was a good start. I like the fact that Nathan has become evil its refreshing to see anoher main character be evil apart from Sylar. It was good to see The Heroes start there lives over but this didn't last long when most of them are captured.
I like the ending with the plane it was ok but it wasnt a very satisfying ending.
