    Great guest stars hide show

This episode is a special treat for its many recognizable guest stars. Jo Anne Worley and Vicki Lawrence play secretaries in need of a vacation and Linda Day George has a nice role as a "replacement" ship's purser. All three are possible suspects. The real highlight of the episode is Leslie Nielsen as the ship's captain – you just can't help but remember him playing a similar role in the classic disaster movie the Poseidon Adventure. Despite the fact that this episode was made 5 years after his career changing role in Airplane, Nielsen plays it straight here, something he didn't do very often after Airplane. Also, this episode gives us something different than the traditional "who killed Mr. X" murder, with Jessica trying to figure out who is trying to drive her niece crazy. Overall a very enjoyable episode.

  • Ramon: I hope this evening you will do me the honor of one dance. Perhaps some more ... hmmm? I will show you my hootchy-kootchy.
Jessica Fletcher: How did you know, Ramon? That's the one thing I've been dying to see. []
  • Captain: Mrs. Reed, well, she's a very shrewd businesswoman. I've known her for years. She and her husband honeymooned aboard last year on my ship -- now, if she's insane, then I am, too.
Jessica Fletcher: That's precisely what the Bordens said about their daughter Lizzie. []
