I've been waiting for this day for a long time...well, ten years...and I was not disappointed. The humor in this episode was vintage Spongebobish. The concept of Spongebob changing his pants to round pants is a good foundation for this funny episode..who would have thought? Spongebob has to buy new pants after all of his square ones get destroyed in the dryer by too much heat. Who hasn't ruined clothing in the dryer this way? We can all relate, right? It was all Patrick's fault for detaining him by insisting that Spongebob listen to him make an annoying noise with this tongue. Much much later, Spongebob asks Gary to check on the laundry, and like a typical teen in a household, Gary replies with a retort that I am quite sure was "Oh man!" Gary takes his shell out of the dryer, but doesn't rescue the Bobber's pants. Sadly, all of the pants shrink into cute little doll like clothes. I liked the way that his pants (about ten pair) fit neatly into his hands...they were too cute, but not big enough for him anymore so he goes to the store to buy new ones. (he goes shopping in his underwear of course,) Unfortunately for him the store is out of square pants for a few months. Fortunately for us, we get to see a funny montage of SB trying on various 'stylish' pants. Pair after pair of pants...even a pair of bell-bottomed 70's jeans...but still nothing feels right until he slips on a pair that look like his old pants only they are round, not square. Because of his new look, his friends no longer recognize him. He starts a new life, doing old things, like working at the Krusty Krab. As he is relearning his old career, he follows Squidward around to learn the ropes. Of course Squidy has to be all mean and insulting to the customers and SB does the same. At the end he decides to lose the round pants and he becomes Spongebob Underwear Pants...back to where he started. And the episode is back to where it started ten years ago with fresh gags and SB's adorable antics.
