Operation Desert Storm, or the First Gulf War, was a war fought between 1990 and 1991 between Iraq and a coalition of 35 nations authorized by the UN. The United States was the main member of this coalition. The purpose of the war was to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi rule after Saddam Hussein invaded.
When Nick wakes up in the hotel room shortly after the sex hallucination, a news show on his tv can be heard. On it, the anchor says "The US Congress said today that the bombing of Baghdad will continue until all Iraqi forces have pulled back across the Kuwaiti border." [edit]

NASA, or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, is the group responsible for the inner workings of the American space program. Through them, such events as shuttle launches, space station visits, satellite launches, and research into new technologies occur.
During the closing wraparound, the Cryptkeeper rewords the famous space center by calling the skeleton's spectacular demise a "NASA-cre". [edit]
Popular sci-fi tv series created by Gene Roddenberry featuring a group of future explorers who traverse the galaxy in their ship, the USS Enterprise, and the various encounters and adventures they have. The series starred William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley. It has spawned numerous spinoffs and movies since its original introduction in 1966. The opening theme is well-known for the last line in the voiceover in which Capt. James T. Kirk says that the Enterprise's mission is "To boldly go where no man has gone before."
