When a baby who is the future Emperor of China gets dumped in their laps Brisco, Dixie, Bowler, and Whip must fend off Ninja's led by a man who wants to ransom and kill the child for his own political reasons. Pete Hutter shows up again. hide show

One of the better episodes of this second half of the season. This week everyone gets involved including our old friend Pete Hutter who is trying to ransom a baby who is someday going to be the Emperor of China.

Hutter was originally just suppose to secure the baby for the man who wanted to ransom it and then kill it himself. This man Chan played by Tzi Ma turns out to be the man who killed Brisco's mother when he attempted to kill his father many years before. So this case has so many things for Brisco to settle before it is done.

The episode is basically one big chase as the guys escape the Chinese at one turn and another until a final battle on the streets of Sutters Creek. We get to see Pete Hutter given the Chinese Water Torture, Brisco and Bowler fight Ninja's, Dixie get very maternal with the baby she names Jesse, and Whip pretty much beat up most of the time. James Hong as Brisco's fathers friend Lee Pow is the major savior in this piece as he is a former trainer of the Chinese Arts.

A very entertaining story with only three episodes left till the end of the series. I'm hoping this is signaling an upswing in the episodes. Thanks for reading...

Dixie is left holding the baby, the future Emperor of China that Pete has snatched. Brisco, Bowler and Whip must defend the child from a gang of assassins who are out to kill the him, in this very enjoyable episode... hide show

Although essentially a 'stand alone' story, this episode very much follows on from the previous one, 'Wild Card', concerning the same group of characters (Brisco, Bowler, Dixie and Whip). And I found it to be a very enjoyable one; another very well-rounded episode that demonstrates how the show had really found it's footing by this point, and deserved a second season, where I believe it really would have flourished.

The episode, also marks the return of Pete, who has more lives than a cat – he returns from the supposed dead, and seemingly meets his demise several more times during this story.

The maternal side of Dixie (making her final appearance in the series) is bought out as she looks after the young baby. Also she no doubt would have featured significantly in a second season, the last we see of her in this story (without giving anything away) rounds her story of satisfyingly.

The episode also has some good action sequences, with the Chinese assassin gang, and Brisco and co. doing battle with them.

I did feel that the story was slightly padded later on – with Pete suddenly regaining his memory (after a dose of Chinese water torture) and running off with the baby, but even so I found the episode to be a fine example of the series.

By this stage (watching the series on DVD) I was really making the most of the episodes, as there were only a few more to go.
