why on earth would anyone think a show about the aimish moving to california would be a good idea. thank god it did not last long. i mean father murphy was bad enough, but why would merlin olsen do this? you know what you have not seen him since either. this show ruined his career.

I thought that I can only get on tilt when playing poker. This Aaron's Way has the same effect...oddly. This is definitely a pleasant surprise. I will surely look forward to more of Aaron's Way from now. hide « show »

    7.2 Good

To be honest, I would have preferred to spend my time elsewhere than finish watching this. However, I kept thinking that there is great potential behind this and I was half right.

To be honest, I would have preferred to spend my time elsewhere than finish watching this. However, I kept thinking that there is great potential behind this and I was half right. There was potential to say the least but this potential was poorly exploited leaving a show that is half decent. Nonetheless, you really have to see Aaron's Way to get what I'm talking about.

    8.3 Great

Really Good. A beautiful program hide « show »

This unfortunate little gem from the production team of Jerry and William Blinn (Our House) did not not get paid much attention to and quietly disappeared. PAX did re-show the pilot the weekend they went on the air but again, I don't think many people saw it.

This show was not really about religion. It was about two different worlds and value systems colliding. Merlin Olson played Aaron Miller, a simple, wise, patient patriarch of a PA Amish family. In the story line, Aaron's son had went to California forsaking his family's traditions. He started a grape orchard, met a girl and took up surfing. When the pilot starts, Aaron's son is killed in a surfing accident leaving a pregnant girlfriend and a orchard that needs harvesting. Aaron and his family decide to leave Amish country and come to California to help.

The program shows us how Aaron's family (traditional clothing and all) react when dealing with a very different and very alien environment. Sparks certainly flew between Aaron and his son's girlfriend but underneath you could see mutual love and respect.

This show had great writing, beautiful scenery, incredible music and a great cast (including Belinda Montgomery.) NBC had scheduling problems with this show and could never find the time slot and audience it needed.

    Wonderful! hide « show »

If you never had the chance to see Aaron's Way you missed one of TV's best family shows! It may not have lasted long, which is a shame but it was similar to Little House with a loving family and good values. It was interesting to see this Amish family discover the world of modern conveniences and adjust to life outside their Amish hometown. The cast was fabulous... Merlin Olsen was a teddy bear! Kind hearted loving man like Charles Ingalls. Jessica Walter, Belinda Montgomery, Samantha Mathis, Christopher Gartin, etc...
