Trivia

add »
Julie's pen name on the Grumpy Guy books was C.W. Semple. The name has two references to the original "Batman" series. One obvious,"C.W." referencing Catwoman. The other, a little more subtle, Lorenzo Semple, Jr, was a credited writer on 16 of the series episodes. Also, the cover art used for the books is reminiscent of Bob Kane's (Batman's creator) artistic style. (edit)

Allusions

This episode poked fun at the real-life feud that erupted between Belushi and his neighbor, actress Julie Newmar. Newmar even guest-starred in the episode. (edit)
There are numerous Batman 1966 references sprinkled throught the plot: Julie is referred to as a "cat woman", perhaps Newmar's most well-known role. Jim imitates Adam West's show, pause-filled cadence, and Andy utters Burt Ward's patented "Holy ___!" twice. The fight scene SFX bubbles, tilted camera wall-walking, improbable peril cliffhanger, and cheesy narrator voice-over, all staples of the show, are used. And Newmar even vamps a little, purring and pretending to groom herself with her tongue, as she once did as Catwoman. (edit)

Great
The Grumpy Guy
"Exactly why I watch this series"
Jim clashes with yet another neighbor played wickedly by Julie Newmar having a fun time over-acting and reliving her old Catwoman role.
