Whitney Ellsworth takes over job as producer from Robert Maxwell as the sponsor, Kellogg's Cereal, wanted a less violent and more kid friendly approach to the series. This second season actually blends the the first season with later seasons and is often regarded as having the best balance of episodes. Many Superman oficianados believe that George Reeves looked his absolute best. (After hearing Joe tell his version of what happened.)
Clark: Keep your chin up. We'll be working for you.
Joe: Thanks, I'm afraid even Superman couldn't do very much for me now.
Clark: I wouldn't be too sure of that. (edit) Clark: Do you know how a lie detector works? Well, it measures the heartbeats and their reactions.
Lois: Don't tell me you think you're a human lie detector.
Clark: Not exactly.
Lois: Cut it out. Only Superman could do a thing like that. (edit) (Talks to Clark after he has jumped out of the car with a bomb.)
Lois: Clark, I want you to know, I think that's one of the bravest things I've ever seen.
Clark: You mean, it's something you'd only expect Superman to do?
Lois: Well, yes. (edit) Lois: And another thing, how did Superman happen to take over when you couldn't have made it?
Clark: Well, I really don't know, Lois. But I suppose he's been interested in this case right along. (edit)

Season Two moved to California Studios (now known as Raleigh Studios) directly across the street from Paramount Studios on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. (edit) Goof: When Clark jumps out of the moving car with the bomb and Lois stops the car and runs out and calls for Clark...you can see the whole tv crew in the reflection on the side of the car.
