Aladdin: Episode Trivia
TRIVIA GUIDE:
- On the carpet ride, Aladdin and Jasmine fly past a full moon. A moment later, they see a half moon reflected in the water.
- Although the script on the scrolls appears to be Arabic, the Sultan and Jafar's eyes move from left to right as they read it, not right to left as they should have.
- When Jasmine first went into the market place and the guy tried to cut off her hand for stealing, Aladdin stopped him and gave the sword to Jasmine. She then put it behind her back but, when she bowed to Abu she didn't have it.
- When growled at by Raja, Aladdin says "Good tiger, take off and go," but everyone thought that he said "Good teenager, take off your clothes."
- Why is it that Jasmine is angry at Aladdin when he is pretending to be Ali and she discovers the truth? When Jafar told her that Aladdin had been killed she had been crying her eyes out. But when she realizes Ali is actually Aladdin she gets angry at his trying to deceive her. If she had been crying over him earlier, she would have been more like "Oh....You weren't killed after all!" instead of "Why did you lie to me!?"
- Prince Akmed's pants (but not his boxers) are torn when he storms out of the palace yet immediately after this Raja has a piece of Prince Akmed's boxers (but not his pants) in his mouth.
- In the scene wear Aladdin gave Princeess Jasmine the Diamond flower, she puts it in a vase. Abu tries to take it but takes the white flower. Then it goes back to Aladdin and Jasmine talking; when Jasmine moves to hug Aladdin, both the white flower and the Diamond Flower (both Aladdin gave to her) are still in the vase. Then it goes gone then back to Abu reaching for the Diamond flower as it is back in the vase.
- The Genie has his golden manicles on his wrists through this movie and the rest of the series, even though they were removed when Aladdin wished him free in the original movie.
- Aladdin was wearing his white-robe outfit during the whole dinner and Iago shpiel as well as the 'Forget About Love' song. However, he SOMEHOW switches back to his 'street-rat' garbs right after we see Abis Mal sneaking over the wall and such. (This probably has to do with the first nitpick in this list ( that the animation for RoJ was done in thirds) and this is obiviously a 'switch-over' so to speak.)
- This movie was done by the same animators, writers, etc who did the Aladdin TV show, and it becomes especially apparent if you watch the show and then watch the movie. The same music is used for both. An even worse job handled in the film is the animation; it was done in thirds; each 1/3 handled by a different animation house(one from Austrailia, one from Japan, etc...). Once Abis-Mal climbs over the wall, the drawing style changes; once Aladdin is framed the style changes once more. It's painfully obvious. Oi.
Fortunately(or unfortunately depending on how you look at it), this was the movie that started the whole direct-to-video sequel market. Since Disney now had more confidence direct-to-video things could sell, they did a better animation job on all future movies; including the third Aladdin film. If that one was done in halfsies, I can't really tell. - There is one giant plothole in this film. Jafar, in his scheme to get Al dead without actually having to do it himself, plans to frame Aladdin. So he sends him and Sultan out on a little excursion, and meanwhile rips up a turban and plants it as "evidence" that Sultan was murdered by Al. When Al comes back, he's accused of murder, and that makes sense, right?
WRONG...this really made no sense and shouldn't have really worked. Everybody there saw Sultan and Aladdin leave. He couldn't be killed in that building if he wasn't present to have it done to him. If Aladdin comes back sans Sultan, and you're still assuming he did it, that wouldn't mean he killed him in the palace, it would mean he did it OUT THERE. Making the "turban evidence" a total obvious fraud. Sloppy...

- Eden's outfit resembles the outfit worn by Barbra Eden of I Dream of Jennie. Also, the character Eden could also be a reference to Barbra Eden.

- Carpet picks a flower, and Aladdin remarks that it's just like the one he gave Jasmine on their first date. However, the flower he gave her on their 'date' was a white lily (see the movie for reference). This is a purple orchid!

- Iago said Destain is the ruler of the black sand. This guy is bad news, even Jafar steered clear of him.
- It was said Mozenrath mentioned about Jafar but used the name Destaine, that's because the two were different people so it's unlikely Moze and Jafar were ever related. (And it was Iago who actually mentioned Jafar, not Mozenrath.)
- In this episode, Monzenrath mentioned about Jafar in this episode, but with the name Destain (who was the ruler of the Black Sand), was it true that Jafar was related to Mozenrath.
- While Mozenrath is contemplating conquering Agrabah, his gauntlet turns completely black for a few frames. Probably those darned lazy animators, but all the same...
- When Genie jumps on the carpet at sunset, his pants are grey, not the usual blue color.
- Also Mozenrath blasts Jasmine (at the beginning of the episode) he's using his left hand, not the right one (with the gauntlet on). All Moze's power is from the gauntlet thus the only hand he should be able to use magic with.
- Once again, the animators forget to colour in Mozenrath's glove (Once at the beginning on the episode and again when he's holding the black 'goo' at Dagger Rock)
- When Jasmine catches Xerxes, he escapes by ripping through Razoul's turban... but in later scenes, his turban's completely unharmed

- Well, Mozenrath probably has 'connections' one way or the other, but we still never find out just HOW he got Scirocco in the first place...

- Exactly how much time has passed since Uncouthma got married? It seems awfully quick that he has a son who's already a few years old while Aladdin and Jasmine are still engaged.

- When Mozenrath is saying, "I meant to, you're so much fun to gloat to," and his back is turned, his gauntlet is on his left hand instead of the right.
- When Aladdin grabs the mamluk Jasmine's arm and pulls it off with the shoulder joint up, yet when he brings the mamluks arm closer to him, the arm's reversed (hand up, shoulder down).
- We once see Mozenrath blast Aladdin with his regular hand instead of his gloved hand. This is probably a 'sloppy animation' case, since Mozie always uses his gloved hand to perform magic.
- There are currently no trivia for this episode.
- While Mozenrath is watching Amin with his magic, the background in the magic portal is that of the dungeon however Amin is in the treasury.
- In the middle of the episode, Mozenrath grabs Xerxes around the middle with his gloved hand. However, in the next frame which is a zoomed-in shot of Xerxes, the hand wrapped around the eel's middle is not Mozenrath's gloved hand, but his other 'normal' hand. It stays this way until the end of the scene.
- Well, the appearance of what was under Mozenrath's glove was very brief in Black Sand, so there's a chance Al didn't get a good enough look at it like he does in this episode.
- Mozenrath's magic gauntlet was removed in "Black Sand".
- Ayam Aghoul seems to be a play-on of 'I am a ghoul'.
