Alan Doyle: Biography
Alan was born into a musical family, and learned to play the piano from his mother, the local piano teacher. He also played the drums, but his favourite instrument was the guitar. At age 15, he joined his uncle's band; many bands followed during his high school and university years, and it was while he was on the road as part of a duo that he met the other members that, together with him, would become Great Big Sea. Their rollicking tunes, fusing Celtic rhythms with rock, traditional, and pop have been keeping fans happy since the 1993 debut album of the group.
- Alan is friends with Russell Crowe; the two of them went to Ireland together for Richard Harris's funeral.(edit)
