Alex O'Loughlin was born and raised in Australia and has been acting professional there for years. He stands about 6'2" and his nickname is 'Arod'. He is of Irish and Scottish decent and notes that his stepfather is Canadian. Alex's parents split when he was a young boy. His mother was a nurse and his father a teacher. He has one sister. He seldom had anything new because money was tight. He remembers feeling that he was disengaged from the world, until one of his earliest performances. Only thing I can say is that the private investigative element is that he, because of his special abilities, because he has superhuman powers, vampire kind of powers, he’s able to take on cases that perhaps other people wouldn’t. We’re on CBS network TV and there’s only so much we can show and only so much we can do in front of the cameras. We can incorporate anything emotionally behind the characters and how they work. I don’t think the world of Moonlight is quite as erotic as the world of Anne Rice, but the levels of mysticism and the depth of character and the romanticism in her books is definitely there. They've been talking about Vic moving into retirement. They've also been talking about Vic behaving himself and not moving into retirement, and so it's all kind of ambiguous at the moment. And they haven't released that much information as to how well behaved my character is either. But he's certainly… He's come from INS and he's done four years on the border and he's done some gang work as well. But he's pretty street savvy and he's pretty good with his weapon and good with his hands. So we think there may be a little more to it than that. (edit) Alex: It's going good. It's a really scary transition. I've never worked on something like this. It's tough! It's like there's film acting, there's TV acting and then there's The Shield . That's kind of how I describe it.
