Alexander F. Petricone, DOB 2-29-36. He was a hanger-on in Boston's original Winter Hill gang of the early 60’s. According to Vincent Teresa in “My Life in the Mafia,” it was Rocco whose girlfriend Charlestown mobster Georgie McLaughlin tried to pick up on Labor Day weekend 1961, setting off the Irish Gang War. Petricone was picked up as a suspect in the October 1961 slaying of Bernie McLaughlin, but was never formally charged. He fled – to Hollywood, where he shed weight and became the actor “Alex Rocco” playing gangsters in, among many other movies, “The Godfather,” and “The Friends of Eddie Coyle.” He is now a Ba’hai.
