This episode picks up where the last left off, with ALF finding himself trapped in the Ochmoneks' house while they're away, surrounded by the police.
Not knowing what to do, ALF panics and yells back to the police from inside the house that he has hostages. He then proceeds to get on the phone with Willie and ask if he should tell the officers that the hostages are actually nuns. Willie tells him to do no such thing, and that he'll think of a plan to intervene. Lynn, Brian, and Kate are worried for ALF's safety, but even more worried as Willie goes over to the Ochmoneks' house.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Byrd, the disagreeable neighbor whom ALF insulted, finds fault with everything that the police do. When they don't have tazers, she wonders where her tax dollars are going.
The local news shows up on the scene, trying to hype the situation. From inside the house, ALF does voice imitations to make it sound as though he really does have hostages. He tells the police that he has demands, and that one of them is five pizzas and a cat. The officers are puzzled by the cat request, and ALF pretends to rebuke one of the hostages. The police order pizza, and meanwhile call for a SWAT team. They figure that if they can't get ALF out of the house, they'll use tear gas.
At the same time, from outside the Ochmoneks', Willie tries to keep the police from going in and ALF from coming out. The officers begin to grow suspicious of him. About that time, the Ochmoneks arrive, realizing that they forgot to lock the house when they were half way to Mexico. They're horrified that a thief would make a second trip to their place, and also that their lawn ornament Santa Claus was somehow beheaded.
ALF turns the channel on the TV to a crime scene in which their is a lot of gunfire, and turns up the volume. Everyone ducks down except Mrs. Byrd, who stands there indignantly. Since the SWAT team still has not arrived, Willie asks the police to be allowed to negotiate with the "criminal" inside. He gets inside the house, much to ALF's relief, who hugs him tightly by the leg. Willie devises a plan to get ALF smuggled over to the Tanners' house in a big laundry basket with a lid. He uses a walkie talkie to trick the police into thinking that the intruder was broadcasting remotely the entire time, and they buy it. Trevor and Raquel walk in to find Willie leaving with their laundry, which Willie hastily explains was his idea to do for them.
ALF is relieved to be back at the Tanners' home, safe and sound. With the real criminal in custody, thanks to ALF, Willie apologizes to him and then thanks him.
