New Jersey native Ali Larter began her career as a model at the age of 13 before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. She started off on stage and guest starring on numerous television shows, including Chicago Hope, Just Shoot Me, and Dawson's Creek before landing her first film role in the independent feature Casanova Falling. But it was her role in Varsity Blues opposite James Van Der Beek that really caught the attention of audiences. Her breakthrough role required her to wear a bikini made entirely out of whipped cream. It made an impression on Van Der Beek's character and quickly made an equally strong impression on casting directors. Larter soon found herself winning roles in several major projects over the course of 1999. First up was Drive Me Crazy with Melissa Joan Hart, in which Larter played Adrian Grenier's girlfriend. She followed that up with The House on Haunted Hill, in which she played one of several victims (including Taye Diggs) who are offered a million dollars to spend the night in a haunted house.

Larter's next major film role is in Final Destination with Devon Sawa and Kerr Smith. In it, she plays one of several passengers who disembark an airplane when one of them (Sawa) has a vision that the plane will crash. The plane does, but the victim's relief is short-lived. Soon thereafter, one by one, they each start to die in mysterious ways. The film promises to be much more than just another horror film, particularly with its intriguing theme about fate and death. If the film does well, it could finally be the one that puts Ali Larter permanently on the list of sought-after young actresses.

Heroes has been her big break through where she plays Niki, the super hero with a split personality. However it is unknown is she will continue playing her character until the end of the show.

Ali: I just remember sitting in my trailer hysterically crying from the embarrassment. I'm an indulger, but then I have to be good. When I'm in really good shape, I like my butt. It's juicy. (edit)
Ali: (On other projects besides acting) I definitely have many ideas and different avenues that I want to take as my career goes on. (edit)
Ali Larter: I do want to get engaged and married... and I look forward to that time when I'm home with babies. (edit)
Ali Larter: I told my boyfriend after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow. (edit)
Ali Larter: Last night I was in my skintight Brian Reyes dress and Louis Vuitton heels. Today I packed my weekend bag, cargos, sneakers and sweats. And you know what? I need both. Balance is something that we all strive for, but for me it's to make sure my life has enough downtime, plus a bit of play. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On what attracts her to roles) I don't really think genre. It's like character, writer, director for me. These characters, I love playing strong women. For me, that's just what I'm drawn to and what's so cool about this movie, too, is that there are two strong females. (edit)
Ali Larter (On her character, Claire, form Resident Evil.) Kind of everything just organically happened. She became the leader of this convoy. She's incredibly strong, patient. I think she serves a role for everyone within this convoy, let it be a mother to someone, a buddy, a best friend. I think she finds kind of what everyone needs and when you're in this desperate of times, I think that keeps people having hope. So I think that she does that. It's just survival instincts. Anything that has monetary value to them is meaningless. It's food, gas, any supplies that we need, that's our gold. So it's really about searching for that and kind of just keeping everyone together and just trying to stay alive. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On actually being able to attack her opponents in RE3 compared to Final Destination) It's fun, you know. I don't have too many stunts in this. When we get to Las Vegas and the undead come out and surprise us and are after us, it was such a shock. We're running and they're chasing me and they get me down. I fall back and I come up and like, "Bam! Bam!" I get them all. That's the fun stuff, you know, when you actually get in there and you get to shoot the guns and it's totally rough and very cool. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On how Resident Evil 3 came about for her) I was sent the script and I read it and was able to have the weekend to watch the first one and the second one and I just thought that Paul wrote a really interesting, really forward-thinking script. (edit)
Ali Larter: I definitely had a couple of beer guzzlers who came up to say hello in bars. What I really meant was that I like confident guys with a sense of humor. (edit)
Ali Larter: (About making the Maxim top 100) When I first got the call, I thought they said I was 100. I was like, “My God, I’m barely sliding in there!” It’s all a laugh. I don’t invest energy in these things. That’s a recipe for disaster. If you think I’m hot, I love it. I’ll keep rockin’ my style and hopefully keep turning you on. (edit)
Ali Larter: I don’t believe you have to spend a lot of money. Sometimes I use Dove shampoo, and then I’ll buy an expensive conditioner. (edit)
Ali Larter: I'm a woman now. I am no longer the little girl who could be easily influenced. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On the most dangerous thing she has done) I was a little wilder in my early 20s so probably getting behind the wheel when I shouldn't have and testing fate a couple times that way. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On using acting to get out of situations.) What, to lie your way out of something? No. I'm a pretty bare bones honest girl. No time for bullshit. (edit)
Ali Larter: I love flaws. I think it is what makes people beautiful, but maybe people want to see me all dolled. I don't know. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On the worst accident she's been in) The worst accident, um, I was almost in a horrible accident with my mother when we were on the 405 during an El Nino horrible storm. It was just really startling to me to think that you have somebody else's life in your hands when you're driving a car. Just completely freaked me out. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On who is her favorite hero and why.) I think Masi. I think it’s the sheer joy of watching him and his vulnerability and the excitement he has, and the exhilaration that he feels with discovering what he’s owning. And I think he dances that beautiful line between comic book and reality and really making sure he has those elements in his performance. So I love watching him. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On her inspiration for playing Jessica)That’s actually easier for me. I’m a really emotional girl and I just tap into the life that I’ve lived and I put it into the work (edit)
Ali Larter: (About possibly appearing on the "Fashion Don'ts list) I don’t worry about it. I rock my own style. If people are vibing it, great. If they’re not feeling it, you know what? Flip the page. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On how weird it is seeing herself in the tabloids.) It’s crazy. It’s definitely part of the industry at this point. For me, the line is drawn when it becomes about self-promotion. I always want to keep a bit of mystery about myself. As an actor, I don’t want people to know everything about me. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On her feelings about death.} That's another thing--I mean, I was drawn to this because I'm at a stage in life where I'm kind of questioning those things right now, and I wanted to segue that into a character. And I believe that there has to be a better place. With so many children dying in the world, of hunger, of AIDS, I need to believe that they go to a beautiful place and that they're smiling down on us, because I can't rationalize why all of these horrible things happen. And I believe in fate and destiny, too. (edit)
Ali Larter: I personally feel going in for the gore, you’re going in for these set-ups. It is tongue and cheek. You’re going in for the fun of it, you can’t go too deep. (edit)
Ali Larter: I’m glad I moved to New York and took a break. I wasn’t getting the opportunities I wanted in Hollywood and I was craving serious roles. I wanted to be taken seriously. (edit)
Ali Larter: My goal is to try and take a breath, to not rush through it. Careers ebb and flow, so I'm trying to enjoy this time. (edit)
Ali Larter: One of the reasons that I was able to succeed was that my mom was always so supportive of me. That gives you such bravery to go out and go after your dreams. There was never the possibility of failing. (edit)
Ali Larter: In Los Angeles, people always so 'You can't do it.' The rejection is astonishing. You really have to dig deeper and believe in yourself. (edit)
Ali Larter: Sometimes I look at mascara that's $30 and I think, 'That's crazy, when you can get one for $5.' (edit)
Ali Larter: I think jeans are the hardest thing to buy, so when you find a pair you love, get four of them. (edit)
Ali Larter: I scarred my elbow throwing a boyfriend a surprise dinner. A spring broke as I opened the oven, so I could either hold onto my roasted tomatoes or singe my arm, and I was making that dinner great if it was the last thing I did. (edit)
Ali Larter: To me, wearing a ton of gold bangles is the best way to fancy up even the most simple clothes. (edit)
Ali Larter: I love food. I'm obsessed with making meatballs right now. I'm a real cheese and wine girl too. Coming home from a 12-hour day and chopping and cooking and having a glass of wine, that's just my Zen spot. (edit)
Ali Larter: My sister is a third grade teacher outside of Indianapolis. I think teachers are real-life heroes, giving their careers to teach the youth. They give their lives for it. (edit)
Ali Larter: For some reason I used to think that every man I was with was going to be the last man ever. But boys are dumb. When you're young, they want to play around on you. I have zero tolerance for cheating. (edit)
Ali Larter: I had heard that India is really exotic, but I've realized that it's just one of the dimensions. The real beauty lies in the people. Everyone is so warm and friendly. (edit)
Ali Larter: Some nights, all I want to do is throw on my boyfriend's sweatshirt, get in front of the fire, watch TV for eight hours, and eat pizza. (edit)
Ali Larter: I have been asked to lose weight before. I don't think Middle America would be unhappy if actors had 10 more pounds on them. I think it's important to be happy in your own skin. (edit)
Ali Larter: I definitely have many ideas and different avenues that I want to take as my career goes on. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On the WGA strike) It's a very precarious time in Los Angeles. We can only shoot for a couple more days. It's affected everyone, from our writers to our production assistants to craft service. You have to stand up for what you believe in, but the repercussions are. it's just a difficult time for everyone. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On why Resident Evil has much better success than other movies based on video games) Milla Jovovich. That’s what I think. I think she’s amazing. I think that she’s strong, and I think she’s a great actress. Obviously people see this and they relate to her on some level. They love watching her and supporting the films. Hats off to her, she was nothing but gracious inviting me onto this movie. Set an example for me to behave in the future when you’re in that position. I think it’s her. This is definitely on her. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On her ex) You always have to give love your all, and if it doesn’t work out, he just wasn’t your man. (edit)
Ali Larter: I very much speak my mind. I’ll always be a Jersey girl. I don’t always get my way, but you’ll know exactly how I feel about it. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On Heroes) I think that what's great about the show is that it's not living in such strict stereotypes. And I don't think anyone's just good or just evil. What's interesting to me is that I think that both sides live in all of us. And sometimes, one side gets more control. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On what superpower she would like to have) I would actually love to fly. I think that that would be probably the most exhilarating feeling, and as close as you can get to true freedom. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On Heroes co-star, Noah Gray-Cabey, who plays her son.) He is such a little genius, that one. He's a musical prodigy. I mean, I say that he's a musical prodigy, and he'll say "No, Ali, I work really, really, really hard. I work a lot of hours." He's so sweet. (edit)
Ali Larter: (On how she became involved in Heroes) When I read the script, I just thought it was amazing. I think that Tim must have locked this little bit of genius somewhere in him, and once it was able to come out, he just ran with it. I think that he created such an extraordinary world. (edit)
Ali Larter: (To change characters- from Niki to Jessica) Both have very specific intentions. By the time they put on/take off Jessica’s tattoo I am ready to be either one! (edit)
Ali Larter: I don't care how stylish something is if it doesn't flatter me. (edit)
Ali Larter: I hate pretty-looking boys. I'd rather have a guy with a potbelly than one who's in the gym all the time and watches what he eats. (edit)
Ali Larter: When it comes down to it, at the end of the day, I need more out of my life and I need to push myself harder. And if at the end of the day I don't have it, then I don't have it, but at least I'm going to put myself out there. If I fail, I'm going to fail terrifically. (edit)
