Tired and weary, Heyes and the Kid discover that they are accused of burgling a bank. They decide to go there and investigate, since their amnesty is at stake.
Also present is Blackjack Jenny, whose son Billy disappeared after telegraphing her about a job there. She is convinced that Billy and his friend Caleb are dead. Heyes and the Kid confront the bank manager, and manage to convince him that they are bounty hunters, and that they were on Heyes and the Kidīs track far away when the burglary took place. That way he gives them the name of the woman who said that it was Heyes and the Kid who stole the money. But is there someone else involved?

Kid: Heyes, I didn't know you were a poet!
Heyes: I'm not! I stole it! (edit) Black Jack Jenny: (To Heyes) Well, Mr. Jones! Mighty nice of you to buy a lady a drink, especially when she needs one.
Heyes: My pleasure, ma'am. And the name is Smith, The Kid is Jones.
Black Jack Jenny(ironically): You mean it makes a difference?
Sheriff (Entering): Smith, I'd like a word with you!
