Cast updates: More Britney on Your Mother

Spears will be back on CBS sitcom, says report; Alicia Silverstone, Howie get sitcom roles.

Britney Spears is finally getting some good exposure--not the "hey, put on some panties" kind of exposure. The pop queen slowed down her rapid descent to the gutter (which included a cocktail of meds, a head shaving, and a custody fight with ex-husband Kevin Federline) by making a guest appearance on CBS's How I Met Your Mother, which served both parties exceptionally.

She may or may not be wearing pants behind that desk. We just don't know.

She may or may not be wearing pants behind that desk. We just don't know.

Now it appears the two sides will do some more mutual back-scratching. Spears' appearance on the show as a love-struck secretary was supposed to be a one-off job, but People.com is reporting that the singer will reprise her role in another episode.

As for when it will happen is anyone's guess. The Web site reports little more than the fact that Spears will return, quoting a source who said, "It was a mutual decision to work together more."

Another entertainer looking for a rebound after a rip-roaring start is Alicia Silverstone. The Clueless actress is giving television another shot, and has landed a good-looking role as star of ABC's pilot Bad Mother's Handbook, says The Hollywood Reporter. In the comedy, she'll play a 32-year-old woman caring for her 48-year-old mother and 16-year-old daughter, played by Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat.

Howie Mandel will be returning to his comedy roots with Howie Do It, says Variety. The show has been given a green light by NBC, which has not yet divulged details on the show. Mandel, who has made a comeback thanks to his gig hosting Deal or No Deal, is starring in and producing the show.

NBC has also begun casting its epic drama Crusoe, signing Philip Winchester (Flyboys) to play the lead and Anna Walton to play Crusoe's abandoned wife.

I agree with NPH: Having Brittney on the show is just a gimmick; one that the show doesn't need to be successful.

I love Britney ! She's awesome. Stop the Britney hate I say !

How awesome would it be if they made her the mother.

Doing comedy is difficult ( far more than action or drama) and she did good. I'm not a big fan of Britney but her acting her was far better than i crossroad. So can't wait to see her on TV again.

ok britney haters need stop. she did amazing! can't wait for her to be on again.

I thought she was funny, and as a secondary character whose solely purpose is to appear when Sarah Chalke appears, it's ok.

She did pretty good if you ask me.

Her role was pretty much almost a extra or camio 3 scenes and 6 lines at the most. not much time to display any acting skills.

britney really wasn't that great on the show though

good for Britney if it helps her to go on with her life, in a good way, I hope.

Never watched How I Met Your Mother and now with Britney on it, I never will.
Good luck to Alicia Silverstone, hopefully she'll make something of Bad Mother's Handbook.

I thought she did all right and it was nice to something positive about her in the press for a change. I don’t think she had enough screen time for me to have a real opinion of the character yet so I welcome her coming back to the show.

Did people really expect her to show up? Apparently hooking up with a married man through (MillMatch....com) is more important than her kids. Right now, those two little boys are in safer hands and it should stay that way. Britney needs to be held accountable and until then she will never be well.

i thought britney was ok and she did make me laugh, but if it means more episodes will be made of mother then bring her back as many times as she wants
Posted 04/21/2008 9:15pm
well maybe this is what she needs to get it together i wish her luck for her kids

She wasn't really very good in the episode. It was only good because it showed her not being psycho. But once was enough for me.

Brit was just not that good. It was a nothing role with no acting required... Why are people going gaga over her? Whats the big deal with her? I'm much more excited about Sarah Chalke coming back on the show. At least she is hot and funny to boot!

I think Britney's been pretty funny in her guest appearances. I liked her in this episode, and I thought she was funny on Will & Grace.

i dont understand why people say she did good. she wasnt good at all if she wasnt famous they wouldnt cast such a bad actress on the show. people just say she did good because she didnt shave her head in the middle of the scene??
Posted 04/21/2008 5:27pm
What about Sarah Chalke also being back on the show for (at least) one more episode? That was officially announced before britney was...I guess they missed that (not so) little piece of information lol xD

Anyway...I think one episode was wayyyy more than enough of britney. I though she was more of annoying then funny...

with britney on it, the ratings will soar, so i guess its a good think for the renew-age-ness of the show.
Posted 04/21/2008 4:39pm
Well, Britney did do a good job in the one episode. I'm just happy that she's getting better. I hope the show gets picked up for next year!
