Mrs Hall goes away for a couple of weeks to look after a sick cousin.
James acts as locum for Stewart Brannen, an overworked vet who needs a holiday with his family. Helen accompanies James, leaving Siegfried and Tristan to 'batch' together. Tristan hones his culinary skills - bangers and mash - on Siegfried.
Mrs Holroyd, Stewart Brannen's slovenly housekeeper, introduces James to 'Mr. Pymerov'.
Kim the dog injures his leg badly.
James is invited by Mr Coker to officiate at the local greyhound races.
