not really a goof just a nitpic I'm a big fan of the books this series was based upon and the bull with heatstroke did not happen his first day on the job in fact he didn't go on rounds by himself for nearly a week after being hired.
The bull happened much later in his career after he'd been in Darroby for several weeks maybe months! (edit)
