When Jim Bowman sells his house, Archie discovers that a new family is moving to the neighborhood. Fearing that Jim sold to a Jewish family, he goes over to investigate, only to discover that the new family is black. Archie quickly hopes to round the neighborhood up and try to force the family out of the area. However, Archie is in for a shock when he discovers it is Lionel's family that has come to the neighborhood.

Vincent Gardenia plays Jim Bowman in this episode, the neighbor who sold his home to the Jeffersons. Gardenia would appear again in Season Three in the role of Curtis Rempley, the swinging husband in "The Bunkers and the Swingers." Throughout the remainder of the series, Gardenia would be featured in the recurring role of Archie's oversensitive and culinary neighbor, Frank Lorenzo.

Lionel says his aunt is moving in with them, but doesn't mention his uncle. Later we meet his uncle, but never hear about his aunt again.

Archie reminds Jim Bowman that Mr. McNab sold his house to a Jewish family when he left the neighborhood. However, in the previous episode, the Bunkers have the McNab's doormat on their porch, because the McNab's dog chewed up theirs.

Louise was talking about a widow raising two sons and working as a secretary for a magazine publisher. The series ran from 1968-1973. (edit) Trying to make conversation, Archie asks Louise how she "liked The Julia Show last night. He is alluding to a black comedy series that ran from 1968 - 1971 and featured a widowed black woman trying to raise her young son and balance a career as a nurse. (edit)
