Malcolm Wyatt hires Ally to take his case. He's suing a girl for not going to the prom with him after she said yes in fall. The opposing lawyer is Larry Paul, and Ally is nervous about meeting him in court. But he never shows up, and his partner Coretta tells Ally he left for Detroit. Richard hires Jane Wilco as the office's new secretary, but after she gets the cold shoulder from some people, Richard wonders what ever happened to the friendly workplace he once built. Ally talks to Billy's ghost and decides to go to Malcolm's prom as his date and convinces him to sing solo and never stop believing in love.

"Goodnight, My Someone" performed by Vonda Shepard (edit) On April, 2001, Robert Downey Jr. was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was then fired from the show, and the season finale had to be re-written (and the last part of the episode before that too, I think). That's the reason why the episode is called "The Wedding", but there's no wedding on it. Apparently, if RDJ had not been fired, DEK would marry Ally and Larry on the season finale. But that's all speculation that was spread around the internet after his arrest. Although Fox's reps deny he was fired, DEK was "furious" for having to re-write the two part season finale. Calista was also very shocked to learn that her co-worker had been arrested. She reportedly fainted when DEK told her. (edit) Leslie Jordan's character, Dr. Harris, would later switch over to "Boston Public" where he is a recurring character. (edit) This is the last episode with Lisa Nicole Carson (Renee), James LeGros (Mark) and Robert Downey Jr. (Larry). (edit)

Girl: Can I ask you a question? Are you his mother?
Ally: I'm his mistress. (edit) George: You know, it's okay to cry all day if you have to. (edit) Ally: Why haven't you been coming around this year? Did you... meet somebody else up there?
Billy: You haven't called me or needed me.
Ally: And you think I do now?
Billy: I'm just checking in.
Ally: Do you think that you could give God a little message for me?
Billy: Absolutely not.
Ally: So why are you here, Billy?
Billy: Just to share a little classified information. There's a very happy life ahead of you.
Ally: I never doubted it.
Billy: Then I guess I'll be going. (edit) John: Most of the people here, they don't live emotionally.
Richard: We need to fix that. I want this to be a place of compassion. Shall we fire them?
John: Well, as acts of compassion go, that wouldn't be my first choice. (edit) Ally: Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you, Malcolm?
Malcolm: I think. You still believe in love.
Ally: Exactly. And you have to. Yeah, you... you just, uh, you have to. (edit)
