Ally’s dating dilemmas continues with tonight’s ep, a continuation of last week’s show. We pick up right where last week left off: with Ally, Michael, Jonathan, and Sis finding out it really IS a family affair. After some debate and a whole slew of awkward moments, the trio finally come up with a plan. Ally suggests (after another girl’s night slumber party) that she date both father and son in order to make an “informed decision.”
Dating both initially seems like a good idea, but rather than choosing between the two, Ally finds herself more drawn to Larry Paul, the therapist-but-not-really lawyer with whom she’s been exchanging verbal banter for weeks. After engaging in a verbal catfight with an old nemesis from law school, Ally is slapped with a lawsuit for defamation and libel. Rather than hire one of her coworkers, Ally seizes the opportunity to hire Larry to represent her. He does manage to get her off the hook, minus a hard-to-swallow apology to Kimmy. Ally momentarily hits another snag when Renee finds out Larry is married, and then watches helplessly as Nelle and Larry have a date. This is enough to make Ally stake her claim, and ditch the dad and son in pursuit of Larry, who returns her interest.
In other stories, Mark continues to try to have a relationship with Cindy, much to the disgust and distaste of the rest of the firm. John refers them to a therapist to try to work through their “issues,” but it just makes Cindy feel like a freak. Mark is eventually overwhelmed by the opinions of others, and cannot maintain a relationship with Cindy. Before leaving for good, Cindy gives Richard a parting kiss that blows him away.
