The episode begins on the set of a movie. The star of the movie, Harold, is playing a mummy. The director asks Harold about his wife, who is due to have a baby in 2 weeks. He then tells Harold that the place where they are filming was actually the site of a real-life mummy story. According to legend, many years earlier, a traveling carnival used to charge people to take a peek at their Egyptian mummy. The mummy was formerly a king named Ra Amin Kah. During one of the shows, the mummy supposedly came to life and killed almost everyone. The few who made it out swore that the mummy continued to roam the bogs where they are filming.
A woman comes into the trailer where Harold and the director are talking and tells Harold his wife went into labor. He runs out and jumps in the car, still in full mummy costume. He runs out of gas and has to push his car to a gas station. When he arrives, the attendant is watching a mummy film on TV. Harold tries to ask him where the bathroom is, but the man gets scared and locks him out. After a few minutes, the attendant comes out and sees that Harold is gone.
Harold drives down the road and comes to a fork. The sign that points to Gridley, where the hospital is, is loose and keeps turning in the wind. Not knowing which way to go, Harold waits for an approaching truck to reach him. The driver gets scared when he sees Harold and crashes into Harold's car. He then fires a gun at Harold, and Harold runs away into a field.
The people of the town hold a meeting after several people have seen Harold. An old man speaks up and says that in 1926, Ra Amin Kah terrorized the town. He tells the meeting that one night all of the townspeople packed up and cleared out. They say they're not going to leave, and one man says they should go hunt the mummy down and kill him. One woman tries to stop them, but they go ahead anyway.
Harold sees them coming and tries to hide. He runs into a blind old man who lets him into his shack and makes him some tea. When the man touches him, he realizes he's a mummy and gets scared. He runs into the back of his shack and opens a tomb. The real mummy, Ra Amin Kah, comes out, and Harold turns to run.
The townspeople start arguing about how they are going to kill the mummy. When they can't figure it out, they decide to "experiment".
Ra Amin Kah chases Harold into a graveyard. Harold tries to intimidate the mummy, then kicks him and knocks him down into an open grave. Two graverobbers come along and one of them turns on a flashlight. The other knocks it out of his hand into the grave. Ra Amin Kah pulls himself out of the grave and hands it back to them. The graverobbers run.
Harold jumps on a motorcycle that he finds and rides away from the graveyard.
The movie director calls the hospital to see if Harold made it there, but they hang up on him.
As Harold rides away on his motorcycle, he runs into the mob of townspeople. They surround him and get ready to hang him. He keeps trying to tell them that he's not the real mummy, but they won't listen. The woman from the town meeting comes through the crowd and tries to talk them out of hanging him. They decide to hang him anyway, but he manages to slip out of the noose and ride away on the horse they put him on. Harold finds a sign directing him to Gridley Hospital. He arrives and ties his horse outside. He can't find his wife and the security guard tries to throw him out. As he is about to go outside to the mob of townspeople, he runs into his wife with their new daughter. The mob softens on seeing him with his wife and child.
Back on the movie set, Ra Amin Kah shows up and takes over Harold's role. At the end of filming, the director walks over and says he'll help him get out of the costume. He starts unwrapping the mummy's rags.
