The Amazing Falsworth

- Season: 1
- Episode: 6
- First Aired: 11/5/1985
This episode begins with a man in a trench coat strangling a showgirl to death in an alley. A homeless man sees him and runs to call the police. As he goes, however, he knocks over a trash can. The killer hears him and kills him, too, then slips into a club.
A man and woman backstage at the club are talking about the club's psychic, the Amazing Falsworth. The woman says that Falsworth's fourth wife left him the night before, and the man expresses doubt about whether Falsworth is a real psychic. The woman insists he's the real thing.
Falsworth comes onto the stage and his assistant blindfolds him. He walks into the audience and says all he needs to do is touch someone, and he will be able to learn about them. He touches one woman, then congratulates her on her pregnancy and tells her it will be a boy. He stops at another table, touches a man on the shoulder, and says that this man and his brother have been reunited after 26 years. As he works through the crowd, we continually get shots of the killer's gloved hand resting on his table. When he gets to the killer, he gets upset and backs away, disoriented. He tells someone to send the police up to his dressing room, then runs upstairs.
When Falsworth reaches his dressing room, there is a man inside waiting for him. Falsworth calls the police and tells them the killer is with him, but they think he is just trying to get publicity. He insists that they come over, so the detective on the phone tells him he's on his way.
After Falsworth hangs up the phone, the man approaches him and hands him a slip of paper. He then removes his coat and puts on a hat that matches the bright red suit he's wearing. He starts singing a song to Falsworth, then tells him he was sent by Falsworth's newest ex-wife. When he finishes, he leaves.
A police officer shows up. He tells Falsworth he doesn't believe he's actually psychic, so all he wants are the facts. Falsworth tells him what happened in the club, but the officer starts to leave, saying he has nothing to go on. Falsworth tells him they should go back down to the dining room so he can find the chair the man sat in. He says if he can find the chair the killer sat in, he might be able to tell the officer what the man's name is or something else about him. The officer is skeptical, but he accompanies Falsworth to the dining room.
He finds the chair and gives the detective an address. When they get there, the manager tells them that the man is out and gives them a key to his apartment. They go inside and look around. Falsworth spots a piano and goes over and sits down at it. He starts testing each of the keys and finds one that is stuck. As he does it, he gets a vision in which he sees the killer. When he sees the killer's face, it is the detective. He realizes the man in the room with him is not a detective.
The killer yanks one of the strings from the piano and pulls it taut, intending to kill Falsworth with it. Falsworth moves away from him, talking to him the whole time. He says that the killer is killing each victim with a different piano string and each string plays a different note. He will not stop killing until all of the notes for a certain song have been used. The killer says he's right, then tackles Falsworth. He turns on his favorite song and plays it loudly. The killer chases Falsworth around the room, but Falsworth manages to lock himself into the man's closet. He finds a gun in there, and when the killer bursts through the door, Falsworth takes the gun out of the closet with him. There is a struggle, but Falsworth manages to shoot the killer in the head. He calls the police, and the operator asks him if he can do a psychic reading over the phone.
