Amber grew up on Waiheke Island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf and while she was at school she babysat for Shortland's Street's producer. She also performed in a local dance group. When the role of Shannon was written she got asked to audition. As well as acting, she is studying for a BA in Business Psychology.
