The episode starts off as Jake, Grandpa and Fu Dog fighting the Huntsman and Huntsgirl for a magical beetle. Jake comes in swinging from a rope and hits the Huntsman and Huntsgirl into the water but he crashes into the wall, Grandpa grabs the beetle from on top of the dead flowers and leaves, Jake asks about what is so important about that beetle, and then you see the flowers being revived.
At school Jake trying to go talk to Rose, but Trixie tells him that he should just go up right in front of her and ask her out, Jake tells her to sit tight and learn, when Jake goes up to Rose he says “Hey Rose haven’t been able to dance with you since the talk I mean talk…” and Rose says “It’s cool I know what you mean! Nice you see you too!” Trixie is watching by the computers and says “All that I’m learning is the Jake’s mack daddy moves are wack!” But at that moment the drama teacher comes in and tells Rose that she has to get ready to audition. Rose tells Jake that they will talk later, but the drama teacher says that she has to drink, eat, sleep Cleopatra, Jake gets an idea to audition for Anthony, Trixie just thinks that he should just ask her out.a
Later in Grandpas shop Jake is daydreaming about Rose and the play, Grandpa snaps him out of his daydreaming and asks him if he was listening, Jake says "Sure. You were... just... saying... some ancient Chinese proverb that holds the key to me learning a valuable lesson?" Fu Dog says "Grandpa was saying that you have to guard the beetle until we find a way of returning it back to Egypt" Jake agrees and goes back to focusing about the play.
In school, Jake and Rose agree to practice, Jake says that they should go to Rose's place and Jake doesn't let Rose talk and they go. In Rose's "mansion" Jake is checking out the books, but when he takes out one of the books a secret wall appears and then he puts the back without even noticing about the wall. But when they are about to practice Act 4, Scene 15, Rose's uncle come and ruins everything. Rose gets him out and tells him that she is sorry.
The next day they try to figure out where to go, Rose suggests to go to their house but Jake takes her to his Grandpas' shop and they practice there, but Jake gets nervous and starts acting weird but he accidentally lets loose the beetle.
The next day they go practice in Trixie's place but when they are about to kiss, after Jake was finally cooled down, Trixie interrupts, and they don't get to kiss. They suddenly see the beetle and they make up excuses to go to the roof without the other knowing to get the beetle, in the roof Jake has turned dragon and Rose is back to Huntsgirl they fight and go back down to the room and they make excuse again and fight, Huntsman comes right in and takes the beetle and they leave.
In Grandpas shop they are talking about getting the beetle back. In school, Jake and Rose come over and tell each other at the same time that they can't make the play and the teacher is listening and faints. But they said they might be back, right then Spud figures out the Huntsman's lair and go there. In the lair when Jake, Grandpa and Fu are fighting the Huntsman and Huntsgirl the beetle gets in the light and resurrects everything, but Jake stops them by burning the book and they get back the beetle, but unfortunately the Huntsgirl is hurt. In the play she didn't make it and Jake ended up kissing Spud.
The next day, Rose apologizes about not being in the play, and Jake says it's cool and mentions about the Romeo and Juliet play but Trixie "Ahem's" and Jake says "Or maybe we could go on a real date sometime?" and Rose says "Yea I'd like that" Trixie and Spud come and congratulate him but Jake just faints. The episode ends on that.
