At the beginning of the episode, Trixie and Spud explain to Fu how bad Jake's day has been so far. First, there was a pop quiz in school. Then, they put in a new chili bar at school and he took a bite of the 5-alarmer and spit it out on a pretty girl. Lastly, there is a new skate competition at the skate park, and Brad hired pro skater Tommy King to help him win.
Fu Dog replies with a moody attitude because the vet put him on a diet today. He's not too happy about it.
Just top off Jake's bad day, Gramps gives Jake a box containing a power artifact that he must send to some witches to destroy it. Disappointed, he and Fu leave to find these witches.
At first when they reach the Hudson River and find the Witches of Woodstock, Jake is thrilled. But after Mountain Goblins come for the box and Jake totally makes a fool of himself and knocks over the destruction potion they were working on. He could tell that today was the worse day ever. Because Jake lost the destruction potion, he was now stuck with that box for a whole week, great...
As Fu and Jake head back, Jake is really bummed out. But his excitement soon sparks once he actually opens inside the box to discover a video game controller for life! At first he starts pressing buttons that starts up the replay button! Suddenly, both of them are back at the point in time where the Mountain Goblins came for the box. This time however, he plays around with the controller releasing strength boost and super speed to put out a nice beat down on the Goblins. But feeling depressed that he didn't even get the controller that long, he purposely knocks over the potion again, to keep a hold of it for the rest of the week.
Once they get back to the shop, Jake starts looking up the rest of the cheat codes for this controller. Along the rest of the week, Jake uses it several times to his advantage. He boosts his intelligence on the day of another pop quiz, and helps Fu Dog cheat on his diet. He then proceeds to use it to practice for the skate boarding competition, but Trixie tries to talk him out of it saying that it is cheating. But of course, he doesn't listen...
Then one day, while Fu Dog and Jake are using the controller to dine on an unhealthy snack, the Mountain Goblins reappear. One of them goes over to Jake, and steals to controller. And being out of practice a bit, Jake is unable to get it back. Tired from his 'food coma' the Mountain Goblins fly off with the controller, to leave Fu and Jake there.
The two head back to the shop, where Lao Shi is furious! He then explains to Jake that failing is good sometimes, and that he shouldn't cheat out of things to get his way. That only leads to becoming fat, slow, and lazy. With that said, Jake searches the caves along the Hudson River, searching for the Goblins who stole the game controller.
Eventually, Jake uses his abilities to find the right cave where these Goblins were hiding. He then calls over Gramps and Fu, and they alert the Witches of Woodstock to give them a head start on making the destruction potion.
Jake and Lao Shi charge at the Mountain Goblins. But since they now have control of the controller, beating them isn't so easy anymore. First, they take down Gramps. Then, they head for Jake. But Jake grabs the controller and flies over the Witches with the squad of Mountain Goblins following.
But when he finally reaches them, turns out the destruction potion isn't ready. Jake flips up the controller, and gets ready to punch in a cheat code, but then he decides to do this old school. He distracts the Mountain Goblins, just long enough to toss the controller in the potion, to destroy it forever.
By the next day, Jake is starting to learn about actually doing his jobs, instead of cheating his way out of them.
