One night, Professor Rotwood manages to take a blurred picture of Jake and huntsgirl fighting. On class the next day, he hands out fliers saying that he will offer a $500 reward for evidence for the magical creature lose in New York City.
While Jake, Trixie, and Spud are at Trixie's house, they (or Trixie) accidentally breaks a vase. The three try to find a way to buy another one. It also turns out that the vase is $600. While trying to earn money, Jake brings up an idea on earning at least five hundred dollars. He decides to give Professor Rotwood a few pictures of him in dragon form. After the evidence has been rejected, he turns in his scales and it is still rejected.
On his way home, Jake spots Huntgirl trying to steal the gold from the leprechaun. While the two have a battle, Huntsgirl knocks Jake to a building and is unconscious. Trixie and Spud are down below trying to find a way to get more money.
While the two are thinking of ways, they spot Jake (or in their case, the dragon) lying in the alley. They decide to turn him in for money, not knowing that it was Jake.
When they turn him on to Rotwood, they get rewarded cash. The two decide to go to Jake's house to tell him the news. After Haley lead him in his room, they ponder on where Jake may be. When Spud sits down, he turns on the computer and they both spot images of Jake as a dragon. They even had images of him 'dragoning up' They find it unbelievable and decide to get him back from Rotwood.
When at his residence, he denies the offer. Trixie and Spud then go to Jake;s Grandpa's shop. After finding out that magical creatures exist, Trixie and Spud get help from Grandpa and Fu Dog. Fu Dog drives the taxi, and the three ride in the back seat.
After Professor Rotwood put oil behind the taxi, the taxi swerves through the driveway and a traffic jam forms. Meanwhile, Trixie and Spud give up all their money to a taxi driver to get them to where Professor Rotwood and Jake were.
Right when Professor Rotwood was talking to the other people, Trixie and Spud struggle to free Jake. They get a plan and when Professor Rotwood opened the back of the truck, they find a dragon mask and Jake takes it off. After they arrest Professor Rotwood, Jake thanks Trixie and Spud for saving them.
Later, Jake is at the shop with Grandpa and Fu Dog. Fu Dog makes a mind erase potion to make Trixie and Spud forget every magical event that ever happened. Just before Jake arrives to Trixie's house, he finds the leprechaun who thanks him with a piece of gold. Jake then goes off to buy the suitton vase and goes off to Trixie's house. Before Jake goes to play with Trixie and Spud, he dumps the mind erase potion in a plant. Then, he goes off to play a video game with his best friends.
Meanwhile in jail, Professor Rotwood is now suspicious that Jake is a dragon.
