Jake and most of his classmates are enjoying a nice day at the skate park. As for Jake, it gave him a chance to show off his skateboarding skills. After showing off, a new student, named Nigel Thrall from the UK decides to challenge him. And it looks like Nigel did way better job than what he did. Embarrassed now, Jake decides to verse him at a rapping battle now, but once again, Jake is schooled.
Bummed, Jake feels like there has to be something he can do to beat Nigel. Trixie then joins him and Spud at the lunch table, where she goes off about the presidential school elections coming up. At first, Jake could care less, but when he finds out Nigel is running for President, suddenly he feels politically active.
Jake heads to the shop so he, Trixie, and Spud can plan his campaign. But Fu first asks him to clean up the shop. Since Boomgarden Electronics opened up across the street, him and Lao Shi have been add it to get more customers. While they search through tons of old stuff, Jake finds a helmet once used by Maximinus, an Ogre who used the helmet to read peoples mind back in the Roman Empire.
The next day of school, Nigel is defeating Jake so far in the elections. Mad, Jake decides to sneak into Nigel’s campaign headquarters after class. There, he discovers that Nigel is a wizard, and Nigel discovers that he is a dragon. They decide now to make the election more interesting; saying may the best magic win.
The next couple of days Nigel and Jake go back at each other, using their own magic to put down each other. But when Spud makes a poll of the current results, Jake is still way down. Using the helmet he found at Gramps’ shop, he puts on that and a costume and uses it to read his voters mind.
Now the center of attention, Nigel threatens him saying, “I’ve got some magic that will blow your doors off.” Ironically, that night someone had trashed the shop. Jake figures it was Nigel, and confronts him about it the day they were suppose to give out speeches. However, right out of the school, they discover Maximinus. Apparently it was him who trashed the shop, looking for his helmet While Trixie and Spud say their ideas to distract everyone, Nigel and Jake join up together and defeat the Ogre!
The next day, Jake and Nigel settle their differences saying that they will support whoever wins. But it didn’t go as it was expect after all, as Trixie and Spud both won the election.
