The episode starts at school with Spud deciding whom to take to the upcoming dance. However, it seems every girl in school is declining him. Spud isn’t worried about himself though, more for Trixie thinking she can’t get a date for herself. But it wasn’t long before she was asked to go by Kyle Wilkins. When Trixie asks Jake who’s he going to ask, Jake sighs of an old picture of Rose, and says no one. Suddenly, Kara and Sara the two Oracle twins pop up at Jake’s school.

Apparently, Sara had a vision about the Huntsman putting together a plan to destroy all magical creatures. Luckily, Kara had a good vision about them setting a trap to capture a member of the Huntsclan. Fu then brings out an invention that he has been working on, that might do the trick.

His invention is a teleportation interceptor. It’s capable of intercepting the Huntsclan’s beams when they teleporting from place to place. When Spud figures out the code and turns it on, two Huntsclan trainee’s pop out, 88 and 89. Jake and Gramps take them down, and seal them back at the shop.

There, Gramps figures out a plan. Jake and Spud will take 88 and 89’s uniforms, and go undercover in the Huntsclan to see if they can figure out the Huntsman’s plot. If Spud could hook up his computer to the main computer in their future destination, he could possibly access his plans. Once Jake and Spud are dressed and ready to go, Fu fixes the machine so they’ll go to the same spot the trainees were going, and they are on their way.

Jake and Spud end up at the Huntsclan Academy, where they are quickly forced into their first class: Dragon Slaying 101. Oddly enough, Rose appears that in the class to show a demonstration on how to slay dragons for the younger students. Jake can’t believe that she’s here, but Spud reminds her that she’s evil. Jake gets his focus back, and the two sneak out to see if they can find the main computer. However, they are stopped by no other person than, Rose. A small reunion between Rose and Jake happens. But with guards everywhere, Rose quickly takes them back to their rooms, and leaves.

During lunch, Spud meets two Huntsgirls in his class who admire him for his knowledge of dragons. Soon these two girls end up fighting for him to see who Spud will help tutor. But they soon mention about the lab test in Dragon Slaying they were having today, which Jake and Spud both didn’t know about.

The two have to make a potion that is lethal to dragons. Jake, with having no clue what to do, decides to mix these two potions together, which cause the whole classroom to blow up. Not only did they destroy the classroom, they created a potion that could only give a dragon the temporary appearance of death. For their punishment, Jake and Spud must fight a Kraken!

The Kraken is a huge giant green sea monster. Without Jake’s dragon powers, the two were sitting ducks. Luckily, Rose helped them out, by turning off the lights. Once it was completely dark, Jake dragoned up and took down the sea beast. Once the lights came back on, all that was there were Spud and the Kraken hanging from chains.

At lunch, the two girls are back at Spud’s side fighting for who will take Spud to the dance. Also during lunch, Jake meets up with Rose once again. Rose asks him if he’ll go to the dance with her; Jake eagerly says yes. However, Rose explains that the computer they were looking for is located directly upon the dance hall. And that tonight might be their only night to get access to it.

Back at the shop, Fu goes away for a bit to ‘unload some cargo,’ while 88 and 89 are bickering at each other. But in a weird accident, the button to free them is pushed, and the two escape.

Meanwhile at the dance, Spud, Rose, and Jake sneak away to the computer value. Spud uses his computer, to download the files. But as Jake and Spud head for the exit, Jake looks back at Rose thinking that they have to help her too. They turn around after her, when they suddenly see 88, 89, and the Huntsman. They found out about the imposters, and chased after them both. Spud was able to escape, but Jake was captured. To break free from the Huntsman’s grip, Jake dragoned up. But it wasn’t long, before he was stuck in a net. The Huntsman looks at Rose saying she can have another chance at rejoining him in the field, by slaying this dragon!!

Before the battle, Jake is chained in a dungeon. Rose meets him there, saying she’ll break him lose. Jake disagrees, saying if she lets him lose they’ll know who did it. The two begin to think of another possible way they could free him…

The two enter into a cage, blocked off from each other as they head up to the battle arena. They talk amongst each other as they prepare for battle. Just before they go up, Rose turns to him and says “Any lasts requests?” Jake replies “Just one.” He then reaches out his hand, pulls down her mask. He then leans over, and kisses her. The two lock lips until they almost reach the top. Jake backs up and dragons up, and Rose pulls down her mask. Soon, they reach the arena.

Once the cage is lift, Jake and Rose start to fight. At first the fight is barely a no win situation, but toward the end, Rose gives a blast from her Huntstaff right at him. Jake falls to the ground, and lands in a pile of dirt. Rose looks down at him, as the crowd goes wild. Then, she delivers powerful blow behind his left ear. The Huntsman comes down, and announces out to the crowd, “This dragon is slain!”

Jake’s dead dragon body is laid over a table in another room. Also in the room, is Spud and Rose. Spud is angry at Rose that she would do such a thing. But Rose reminds Spud about the potion that he and Jake made; the one that could give a dragon the temporary appearance of death. Suddenly Jake returns to human form, and starts to breath again. Quickly, Rose takes them to the teleportation room. Jake asks her what about her, but she replies saying that there isn’t enough time. Jake and Rose teleport back to New York, without her.

Back at their old school dance, Trixie dancing with Kyle Wilkins, while both Spud and Jake are feeling a bit down. But just is suddenly excited when he sees Rose behind him. She explains that she’s back with the Huntsman, and also back in school. And that she’ll do as much as she can to stop the Huntsclan. Jake feels even more excited about the romance they’ll share, but Rose declines saying the Huntsman will be watching her, and it isn’t wise to be seen too much.

But by the end of the episode, Rose is forced away from Jake by Brad Morton, and Jake is once again upset saying “Awww man!”
