(edit)

(edit)
Credits: Jake tells his grandfather about the things he has learned about the Chinese New Year, but Grandpa tunes him out by listening to his Ipod.
(edit)
In this episode Jake does not have his normal shorts, he has the same style of pants but they're longer like pants.
(edit)
Lao Shi: By problems, do you perhaps mean accidently sweeping trash out of the shop, resulting in near catastrophic bad luck until everything was returned?
Jake: Hold up, you knew what was happening this whole time, and you didn't help!
Lao Shi: Some lessons are more fun to watch than to teach.
Trixie: So I dug through trash...
Spud: And I licked slime...
Fu: And I had my crippling fear of crickets exposed!
Trixie: Just so Jakey could learn a lesson about his culture?
Lao Shi: I only said it was fun, for grandpa. (edit) Gramps: Good, then I won't have to remind you of the vault.
Jake: The vault!? I know about the vault. I can teach classes on, the vault. Now you go do your Chinese New Year thingys, and don't worry your little gray head on the vault. (Calls a cab for Gramps) Bu-bye now! (Goes up to the cab driver) Go as far as 10 bucks will take him. (The cab drives up drives to the end of the street. Gramps gets out and looks at Jake.) Awww man. Just keep walkin' Grandpa!! (edit) Trixie: (Tired after chasing the garbage truck) We can't catch him!
Spud: No, but Ortho cloggy can! (throws his shoe at the truck, hitting the lever to knock out all the trash) Light-weight, yet sturdy. I knew they'd come in handy! Or...footy. (edit) Jake: You don't really believe those Chinese superstitions, do you?
Fu: Kid there not just superstitions, they're four-thousand years of culture.
Jake: Just because it's old, doesn't mean it's true. (edit) Haley: Thank you Grandpa I am not greedy like some people because money is derived of all evil and (opens envelope) I was hoping for little more evil then this! (edit)

Actually Gong Heii Fatt Choy is the Cantonese saying, which is a different dialect of Chinese. Gong Xi Fa Chai is the Mandarin which is the more widely used Chinese dialect. Jake's grandpa often uses Cantonese throughout the show.
(edit)
They say Gong Heii Fatt Choy, which is wrong. The actual saying is Gong Xi Fa Cai.
(edit)
Incorrect Chinese Tradition: Gramps gives red envelopes to Jake's parents as well. According to traditional Chinese custom, married persons should not be given red envelopes.
(edit)
"Gong Hei Faat Choy:"
"Gong Hei Faat Choy" means Happy Chinese New Year in Cantonese. (edit) Episode Title: Year of the Jake
References to the Chinese New Year animals The Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat/Sheep, Monkey, Chicken/Rooster, Dog, and Boar/Pig (some Zodiac animals are interchangable) (edit) The episode title is an allusion of the Chinese year, Year of the Dragon. (edit)
