On Valentine's Day, Meg has trouble convincing Luke to go to the Valentine's Day Dance because he doesn't believe in the holiday. She finally gets him to take her to the dance, but Meg realizes she doesn't want to be with someone who makes her feel bad about liking Valentine's Day. Luke ends up breaking up with Meg. Sam and his girlfriend Anita are going to the dance, but has doubts after he talks to Nathan about whether he and Anita will fit in. But because of Henry's urging, he ends up going, although Anita doesn't have a very good time. Roxanne is starting to doubt anyone will ask her to go to the dance just when she is asked out by Warren, a wannabe priest, who she says no to because she's waiting for another guy. Then she finds out the one she's been waiting for doesn't want to go with her because of her reputation, she figures Warren is a perfect antidote. But Warren wants to go to as many bases as Roxanne will let him because he wants Roxanne to be the girl he gives up for God. But he ends up really liking Roxanne. Patty is having a Valentines Day party and receives an anonymous Valentine, and thinks its from Kevin. Roxanne gives Patty advice on how to get Kevin to be her partner in 7 Minutes in Heaven, only to find out he likes Joyce. But in the end, Patty and Joyce end up being friends. Mr. Pryor goes to see the doctor when he thinks he has the flu, but they want to run tests because of his family heart disease history and he doesn't tell Helen and forgets Valentine's Day. He takes Will out to get Helen something and when they pull into the drive way and are finishing their ice cream, Jack feels chest pains and has to go to the hospital where he and Helen have a talk about how they need to talk more. J.J. won't give up on getting Beth back; he sends her flowers, records, and cards; even though his father urges him to. But after a little heart to heart with Colleen he finds out about his Dad, and Colleen drives him to the hospital and back home, where Beth is waiting. And they have a talk, which ends up with them taking a break for real. Mr. Pryor also sees Rebecca's husband being cozy with someone else, and when Rebecca finds out, she is devastated.
