Trivia

add »
Some references to time are a little askew here. Dick Clark announces a Saturday edition of American Bandstand and 2 seconds later Helen says she has to work the next day(Sunday). Also, JJ returns to Camp Lejeune after announcing the wedding date and sees a sign saying "Colored Only" which was struck down by the Civil Rights Act the previous summer. However, some things are on track with December 1964, like Sam Cooke getting shot and Mario Savio being arrested at Berkeley. (edit)
The song 'Once I Was' by Tim Buckley was played in this episode but in realtime could not have been as it was recorded three years later and released on his album: 'Goodbye and Hello'.
Also note that the 'Vietnam War was not as protested at this time(Dec 1964) as the conflicts were being known as each specific battle and not collectively as 'the Vietnam war'. Usage of this song to highlight protest against the war would not be appropriate until at least 4 years later when the war was extremely unpopular in the mainstream. In Dec 1964, the full reality of the extent of US participation was just becoming a blip on the radar screen so to speak. (edit)
