Amy Hill, who was born in Deadwood, South Dakota and raised in Seattle, is a well-known and versatile actress. She has appeared in feature films, television and theatre, and her voice can be heard on some of today's most popular animated series.
When she was a little girl, Hill used to perform on the front porch. A family that lived across the street would sit in their living room, facing the window and watch her, she recalls, as though they were watching "The Ed Sullivan Show." In high school, she continued to participate in entertainment related-activities.
After high school, Hill attended Sophia International University and also trained to become a television and radio personality. She finished her BA in Seattle at the University of Washington with a double major in Japanese and Fine Arts. She became serious about pursuing an acting career and trained in San Francisco at the American Conservatory Theater and, at the same time, became involved in improvisational comedy. She also worked with the famed Asian American Theatre Company in San Francisco
Her television credits include "Reno 911," "Frasier," "My Wife & Kids," "Bernie Mac," "Friends" and a regular role as Fanny in the Comedy Central series, "Stripmall." She has guest starred in television dramas such as "Six Feet Under" and "Without a Trace," and had recurring roles on "North Shore" and the Nickelodeon series, "Head to Toe." Film credits include "Big Fat Liar" and "Next Friday," and she co-starred with Mike Myers in "Cat in the Hat" and with Adam Sandler in "Fifty First Dates." Hill's voice work includes "King of the Hill," "Lilo & Stitch," "Jackie Chan Adventures" and, for the Cartoon Network, "The Life and Times of Juniper Lee."
Hill has written many award winning one-woman shows, including the critically acclaimed "Tokyo Bound," the first chapter in an autobiographical trilogy. This production was part of the Festival of New Voices at the Public Theater in New York and was nominated for a 1995 Cable Ace Award. "Reunion" -- the final chapter of this trilogy -- enjoyed a sold out engagement at the Actors Theater of Louisville's Flying Solo Festival. Another of her one-woman shows, "Beside Myself," was also seen on the main stage of L.A.'s Mark Taper Forum. Her Broadway debut in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" at Lincoln Center aired on PBS' "Live from Lincoln Center."
Hill lives in Los Angeles with her five-year-old adopted daughter, Penelope, and their dogs, Honeygirl and Wanda. In addition to her work with LA's own East West Players and Cornerstone Theater Company, she likes to travel, paint and do art projects.
