In this series debut, Angel is a young, pretty French girl trying to learn to be a good American housewife to her newlywed, John, an American architect. Tonight, Angel visits a supermarket, where she meets a French grocer. She doesn't mind walking long distances to save money on groceries, but John is afraid people will think he's an economic failure. Also, other wives are getting jealous because Angel seems to be the perfect wife, so Suzie tries to turn her into a big spender. All this creates friction, and hilarity.

Angel demonstrates her enthusiasm for American elections by turning their house into a polling place.

When the roof springs new leaks after being repaired by roofers hired by Angel, John suspects she was conned.

Angel becomes her own French maid, uniform and all.

Angel and her friends pool their talents for a contest.

John tries to teach Angel how to drive.

John is called away on business, spoiling Angel's plans for a picnic and a day at the art museum. Angel goes by herself, and ends up taking over temporary duties as tour guide for a group of boys.

Angel persuades John to help a boy named Chuckie improve his baseball skills.

Angel unwittingly encourages the affections of a young supermarket box boy, and John does likewise for the young man's girlfriend. Angel and John then try to reconcile the two.

John recalls his and Angel's wedding day. They were to be married immediately upon setting foot in America, but Angel loses her passport and has to remain at the customs office until they find it.
