In both Buffy and Angel, whenever someone decapitates a vampire, they turn to dust and leave no blood on the weapon, yet when Angel is in the sewers and ambushes the vampire group, the last one he decapitates and for a split second you see blood on the blade when there shouldn't be any. edit »

Gunn: What about you? Maybe if you had enough visions then Angel would have been too distracted to think about this Darla chick, huh?
Cordelia: Earth to retards! If you have an obsession, you pretty much squeeze it into your schedule no matter what!!
Wesley: Ah! So you admit it is an obsession.
Corderlia: No... I mean, yes, but no!
Wesley: Hypocrite.

Darla: You know, in a perfect world, Angel would be here right now helping me burn this city to the ground. This is his job I'm doing. But where is he? Probably flogging himself in a church somewhere.

Darla: My name is Darla. This is Drusilla. We're new in town, though some of you know us by reputation.
Demon: I ain't never heard of you before.
(Drusilla rips his ears off.)

Police Officer: You've just been through a very traumatic experience. Really, sir, you should be in a hospital.
Lindsey: She saved me.
Police Officer: That may be true, sir, but you should still be checked out by a doctor.
Lindsey: There has to be a reason why I'm the only one left.
Police Officer: You're in shock, you need to see a doctor.
Lindsey: (smiling) I'm the only one left.
Police Officer: Hey, we got a live one here.

Angel sets Darla and Dru on fire at the end by smoking a cigarette and throwing it in to a trail of gasoline. Prior to this, the only instances of Angel smoking were in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Innocence" (2x14), when he lost his soul and bit in to a womans neck, killing her while sucking in her cigarette smoke and then exhailing, and in the Angel episode "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been" (2x02) during the flashbacks to when Angel was staying at the Hyperion in 1952 he smoked. Smoking is used as a symbol for Angel's turn towards the "dark side," following Joss Whedon's history of "sinful" acts, such as smoking or drinking, leading to negative actions or results. edit »
Joss Whedon has said that this was the episode that changed and shaped all the character's personalities for the remainder of the series, basically rewriting them. Whedon himself did heavy rewriting on Mere Smith's draft of the script, but she was happy with the final result. edit »
