Cordelia is in search of new apartment. Her old place is so roach infested that she packs her things and shows up on Angel’s doorstep. The plan is to stay there until she finds a new apartment. Angel enlists Doyle’s help to get her a new place fast. Doyle is having problems of his own. Namely a demon thug who’s trying to collect on Doyle’s outstanding debt. Angel and Doyle strike a bargain. Doyle gets Cordy out of Angel’s hair and Angel will deal with the thug.

Doyle succeeds in his mission. Cordelia finds an absolutely beautiful apartment (that can’t possibly be in her price range). It’s big, it’s clean and it’s pest-free. Except for the other tenant that inhabits it. There’s a ghost. And it wants Cordelia out. Not that Cordelia’s going out without a fight. She pleads with Doyle and Angel to help her get rid of the poltergeist because the apartment is just too good to give up. They agree and start researching who’s haunting the place and why. Angel enlists Kate’s help and they uncover information leading them to believe that a man murdered his mother years ago. Since then there have been a rash of suicides in the apartment. Angel calls the office and gets Doyle. They realize that the ghost has lured Cordelia back to the apartment.

The two of them race to the apartment where they Cordelia hanging from the ceiling, as though it were a suicide. They get Cordelia down in time and begin to do battle. The thugs after Doyle arrive at the apartment and the ghost uses this opportunity to take Cordelia. The ghost thinks that Cordelia is her son’s girlfriend. She belittles Cordelia, telling her how unworthy she is. Angel and Doyle manage to defeat the goons and attempt the spell. Finally, Cordelia snaps and takes on the ghost. Somehow she channels a spirit and dismantles the living room wall, discovering that the woman’s son had been walled up inside all those years ago by his mother. She had a heart attack moments later and both their ghosts haunt the apartment. The mother’s ghost is banished and Cordelia has her apartment back. Except now, the son is her benevolent ghostly roommate.
